Hi

I want to try out sandstorm on a virtual machine (virtual box) running
on my local pc. In my local network, the vm has IP 192.168.178.41,
but of course it is not visible from "the rest of the world".

The install script runs fine but then I am not able to connect to the
given link:

https://ongu5.sandcats.io/setup/token/2632217b2367823c8409bea9b1742b67054bc157

(I chose ongu5 as subdomain during installation.)

I also tried to reach

https://192.168.178.41/setup/token/2632217b2367823c8409bea9b1742b67054bc157

and

https://192.168.178.41

from my local pc but I always get error pages.

ERR_ADDRESS_UNREACHABLE or ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT

I guess it is a DNS problem because the VM is not reachable from
outside. But that would not be necessary for my testing purposes. I just
want to connect to it via the local network.

As this scenario seems not so exotic, there might already be a solution
and I would be glad to hear about it.

Thanks in advance,

Carsten

Hi Carsten!

If you want to run Sandstorm in a VirtualBox VM for testing, the best option (in my opinion) is to follow these directions on running it within Vagrant:

https://docs.sandstorm.io/en/latest/install/#option-7-use-vagrant-when-deploying-on-mac-or-windows

Let me know if that helps you get past these problems.
