I've been told by a Stihl salesman that it's the pole saw that converts a lot of contractors to cordless. But you probably have to choose between a pole saw, hedge trimmer, or a battery for
Budget under $500 if possible.

Yeah was thinking that as I need to cut thick branches up high.
I also need a trimmer was thinking of the 250 ryobi sold in bunning which comes with battery but not sure if that will do all the hedges on both sides in one go which is why was thinking of getting 4 stroke trimmers from ebay as they are all bassically the same but not all cordless trimmers are the same so hard to pick a good one and if a 56v will do the same as the 18v from bunnings.

Aldi was selling a battery powered pole saw & hedge cutter combo for around $300. Its powered by two 20v batteries. I have an older version powered by one battery that cost me $120 I think. Its been pretty good. The pole saw works well though the chain is a little slow.

I have some Ego Powerplus 56v tools including the powerhead for the multi tool system. I like them a lot. They have a lot of power and work well. I have neither the hedger nor pole saw for the Ego system as I already have the Aldi tools. I'm sure the Ego equivalents would be better.

No, i think he/she was talking about the 2 in 1, i have it and it payed for itself on the first day lol. I still use the hedger but no longer use the saw part as used it too much and chain is worn but got nothing thick in garden any longer. The hedge head hit something solid by accident and was cooked but aldi sent a replacement within a week. Op should consider a 1.8m ladder and 35mm telescopic anvil lopper as 70m will make a pole hedger too hard to be liffting for that long.

I was told by a Stihl salesman that the pole saw is the entry point for many professionals, it's the tool that converts many. The petrol pole saws they have in for repairs frequently, the drive shaft is prone to problems. But the electric pole saw they never see back. The Stihl electric pole saw has no drive shaft, it has merely an electrical cable & the motor is in the head. Similarly with my Ryobi. I get to use Stihl pole saws with the SES, and I prefer my Ryobi even though it's much lighter grade unit.

I had a 4 stroke pole hedge trimmer and saw + mower.
I never did any maintenance or oil changes in the 6 years that i used it.
I just add petrol and oil when i need to use it and then start it up never had issues and was still going strong last time i used it.

My Honda takes straight unleaded & I ought to be changing the oil every year but it's probably 2-3 years.
If you put oil in the fuel it will smoke & stink far worse than a 2 stroke. Still, it's not as bad as putting neat fuel in a 2 stroke.

Attaching the hedge trimmer to the extension pole is possible by removing a screw with a simple screwdriver; however, we strongly advise against using the hedge trimmer on the extension fitting due to the high vibration caused by the excessive length. We therefore recommend using it without the extension attachment.
