Workshop Description:
Accessing Census Data through Census Reporter
Census Reporter provides easy access to data collected by the U.S. Census Bureau through the American Community Survey (ACS), including social, economic, and housing characteristics, such as education, language spoken at home, place of birth, income, employment, occupation, commuting to work, and much more. Through this tool, profiles and comparisons, including visualizations, can be created, as well a data exports for further analysis. This workshop will demonstrate how to use this free web application in order to access the most up-to-date demographic, socioeconomic, and housing statistics from the ACS. Methods for augmenting this information through American FactFinder (another Census Bureau online tool) also will be shown. There will be time for hands-on access of specific data, so bring your real-world questions and you'll be able to access the data you need as part of the learning process.
