Manually Activate Quickbooks

Ipurchased QB Pro 2018 from Office Depot. After installing it on my desk top, I tried to activate it, but the Intuit Desktop Activation Screen freezes each time. I resterated computer several times and closed all applications but still unable to activate.

To thaw out the Desktop Activation Screen, I recommend running a repair. Completing a repair on your account is sometimes necessary to fix any issues within the program. This article explains how this can be done: -repair-quickbooks.

Pressing the BEGIN ACTIVATION AGAIN button does nothing and the program needs to be restarted. I have tried running a REPAIR on the installer, as well as restarting my machine several times. Nothng appears to work and I am left without an operating copy of QB that I just paid for.

I have this problem every single time I have to activate quickbooks. Usually triggered when I have to re-install QB or if QB is broken again and the intuit repair tool fails...again. There are literally 1000's of companies which use some form of online activation with their software, QB is the only one I know of that fails all the time...

Seriously! This problem has been going on since 2018? It's the 2019 and the screenshot above is the exact same problem I'm having now. Instead of setting up my new software I have an approximate hold time of 35-40 minutes. When someone buys something we expect it to work, and not to be required to call Tech Support on day 1. Looks like it may be a good time to try out Xero!

I can understand your desire to speak with our phone support right away. At this time of the year, we typically have a high call volume and longer than normal wait time. Many of our customers call in for assistance with year-end payroll.

I'm having the exact same problem! I bought a copy through TechSoup for a non-profit I'm on the board and it times out during the activation process no matter how fast I fill out the information fields. When I try and activate through the website it can't even find the product but I have an email from QuickBooks with the license code and product ID sent to the same email I used to log into the website with. Of course you can get an activation code from customer support but ONLY during the high demand hours when you can't get through anyway. So right now I'm SOL! I wish I had know about Xero before I stepped in this mess!!!

Let's try to configure these programs so you can successfully activate QuickBooks. Please note that QuickBooks Desktop 2019 currently uses dynamic ports which are assigned during the installation process. You can also consult your IT guy to help you update your firewall to its latest release.

Then, run the QuickBooks File Doctor as it will automatically open and configure the firewall ports. Lastly, proceed with creating firewall exceptions for QuickBooks using the Port Number.

I have tried to "reactivate" and entered new billing, etc. There is not ACTIVATE button. My account says ACTIVE. What am I missing?! Please help. Payroll needed to go out YESTERDAY. :( :( I would really appreciate a number to call and talk to a human. How is that not a thing?!!

It would be best to have the supported versions of QuickBooks (QBDT 2021, 2020, 2019) to avail of the latest features and other Intuit services. The good news is, Intuit still allows users to download the old version of QuickBooks.

I activated my Premier 2021 QB desktop but it won't let me past the confirmation page. I click on the stars and nothing happens, I click on start using quickbooks desktop now and it does nothing. I am completely frustrated.

After successfully installing the QuickBooks Desktop application, you must activate your license. If your license is not activated, QuickBooks will prompt you to activate it as soon as you install the application on your desktop. However, you can also choose to activate it later manually.

Notes: If you purchased your QuickBooks Desktop license from a third-party vendor, but you already have an existing account with Intuit, you can still choose to sign in directly to your Intuit account.

Well, someone wrote in a week or so ago saying they couldn't get 'manual payroll' to work for QuickBooks 2018 using the articles in my earlier 12-step articles. So I decided I would try it out, and it worked without a hitch. l was able to set-up a QuickBooks 2018 Sample File for manual payroll using my 12 steps without any problems at all.

Many small businesses using QuickBooks (desktop) want to automate payroll within their accounting, but many cannot afford a payroll subscription. This article is intended to insure that readers are aware that you can still prepare payroll manually inside of QuickBooks, even the newest 2018 desktop version.

Step 4 - Help opens the topic window, read the information thoroughly, including the disclosure where Intuit is telling you that if you use manual payroll processing they assume no liability for any improper calculations. [Note: if you have been preparing payroll from tax tables since your first employee you were already assuming all the liability for doing so.]

Step 8 - Manual payroll processing has now been activated. You may need to turn-on payroll preferences (Edit > Preferences > Payroll & Employees > Company Preferences) if you have never used payroll in QuickBooks.

Step 9 - Payroll checks and other payroll functionality that had been turned off in your QuickBooks file are now available. NOTE: You must set-up at least one employee before the actual 'paychecks' feature is available under Pay Employees.

Step 10 - You can set-up your payroll items, employees and process payroll and payroll taxes in exactly the same way you would if you had a payroll subscription with one exception, you must calculate all taxes manually (using either manual tax tables or tax formulas).

Step 11 - Just remember you are on your own, exactly like you were when you hand wrote paychecks with the only difference being that QuickBooks is posting and tracking the data you enter.

It is hard to determine the value of the manual payroll option over a paid payroll subscription. For larger businesses one can expect that a payroll subscription will be more cost effective than the task of having to look-up tax tables for each payroll as required by this process.

On the other hand, for a small one or two man shop, this manual option may be the most cost-effective alternative, especially if their paychecks tend to remain constant from one pay period to the next.

While there are a variety of payroll options for QuickBooks desktop users from not only Intuit, but other payroll providers, I am happy to say that the 'manual payroll' option is still available within the desktop software if you simply follow my 12-steps and then take the responsibility of doing payroll correctly the manual way.
