Mar, thanks for quoting from The Pedagogy of the Oppressed. Paulo Freire has had a great influence over many of our lives for the better, particularly during his stay at Harvard during the early '70s, when the military would not let him back into Brazil. I was privileged to have met Paulo Freire at William Penn House in
N.Y.in 1970 during a traditional Catholic Inter-American Cooperation Program Conference (CICOP). Then the next year I worked for him, & the other organizers, in a much more open CICOP Conference in Wash., D.C., with much more feedback from the conference participants. It taught me some things that I have later used in drawing out the best from students in classes across the country. Harrison Owns, in the '80s took
these concepts much farther in his Open Space Technology.
Now I am working with people in San Diego and around the world in the "process arts," new ways of bringing people together. John
