Years ago, on my first visit to a magic shop I was shown a simple
trick involving 3 cards. The trick showed 2 cards with a large red
diamond, and one with a blue diamond. The patter followed the
exploits of someone who was to locate the card with the blue diamond,
each time owing another dollar. The last part was the double or
nothing, and the twist left people stunned.

This was called a Color Monte, and was the first trick I learned. I
was in eighth grade. There are many montes around, but this one,
which can be had from The Grand Magic Shop as well as MJM Magic and
Penguin is by far the best. If possible, I will always recommend
purchasing a trick from an actual shop because you will have the
ability to be taught the trick. This being said, if you ever buy a
trick and the store refuses to teach the trick, I want to know about
it because that is a shop I *never* want to enter.
