I'm idling on freenode all day in other javascript channels so ended up registering #sandiegojs in case anyone else is doing the same.

For anyone curious as to the value of such antiquated forms of communication, the majority of worthwhile JS developers maintain a channel on freenode where development discussion occurs regularly.

And others, but those are a good list. You'll often be made aware of upcoming changes to apis before normal, boring, non-tech-addicted folk are.

Rubyists, I notice there's an #sdruby channel registered but not active. Is freenode popular in the ruby world?
