Hey all,
I worked hard to accomplish two things with the book: 1) an
introduction to all the important features of CoffeeScript, and 2)
examples of how to use them most effectively in a full application. In my opinion
#2 is the standout feature - there are plenty of introductions out there
to CoffeeScript syntax, but I want to teach people how to make the most
of it when confronted with the real-life problems that you will
encounter in your real-life work.
If this sounds interesting to you, or if you can think of someone
else in your life who you want to get hooked on CoffeeScript, I'd
encourage you to check it out! It's mostly focused on front-end CS, but
has a couple chapters on Node as well. It's aimed towards developers
with some JS but little CS experience, but should have some good stuff
for the more advanced folks too (source maps! async! asset pipelines in
Rails, Brunch, and Node!).
Right now, there are a couple good ways to get your hands on a copy for cheap:
- The ebook is $5 if you buy it from the publisher between now and Jan 3rd
- You can get 15% off either the ebook or the print edition at any time from the publisher with these discount codes: 2QfknZ (book) and cVqzM4 (ebook)
- Or follow me on Twitter, where at some point (probably mid-January) I'll do a promotion to give away a few copies.
- Or just buy it on Amazon, at whatever price Amazon feels like charging today
Enjoy the holidays, enjoy the book, and enjoy the last days of 2013, which are going to be beautiful if today is any indication!
