I contacted talktalk to cancel my netflix i believe in august and was offered a new contract and to have Netflix removed. I agreed to this and i thought all would be well. Next bill Netflix still hadnt been removed and i was again charged for it. I recontacted talktalk to be told it would now be removed and given a credit on the next bill. I even had an email around 2nd Oct apologising and another to say Netflix bundle removed and this would appear on my next bill. Just had the latest bill in and im still being charged. I contact talktalk a third time on the chat and spent an hour being transferred to numerous deptartments to be told i needed to re contract to have this removed. I had only just recontracted. They eventually said there was an issue removing it and i would be refunded eventually and i needed to contact them again in 7 days to check. I need this sorted asap and appear not to be able to cancel this. I can not afford it and they are causing me to go into debt. I have no idea whether it will be sorted this time but i have my doubts and why do i need to do the chasing when i have asked 3 times now to hsve it cancelled. Can anyone help as no idea ehat else to do.
Thanks I have just had an email to say netflix bundle has been removed. Its the same email i had 2nd oct and it wasnt cancelled then. This was in response to my Aug/sept chat online to get it removed and i was recontracted to make this happen but clearly didnt. So i believe i have paid 2 months now since i originally asked for it to be cancelled. I have no email to say when i will be reinbursed this money. With money tight this should be a priority. Any ideas on this?
Hey there @Manny5829, thanks for reaching out! To clarify your question, when you say you deleted your Roku account, did you remove the Roku account from your device or did you deactivate your Roku account completely? Unlinking a device does not deactivate your Roku account or cancel any Roku billed subscriptions you may have. However, once your Roku account is closed it cannot be reactivated and your purchases from the Roku Channel Store (such as games, channels, etc.) will no longer be available. For more information on both of these processes please see the links provided below.

Any decent human being with a good head on their shoulders knows how incredibly problematic this movie is. Those who support this film probably have never seen it, and are just going by the liberal press that's been praising this film as some sort of commentary on both religious misogyny and hypersexualization.
Which, btw, I think is total nonsense. The film clearly is just one of those 'Muslim girl realizes her true freedom by leaving Islam and embracing her sexuality' stories, it was just done terribly. That even anti-islam right wingers are just disgusted with this film.
I think the fact this movie is still on Netflix and it's positive press in mainstream liberal newsites like the New York Post and Time, illustrates how dogmatic and ridiculous liberals can be. Even when they present themselves as 'woke' intelligent people. This and Russiagate.
From what I've seen on the internet (just reddit really) there has been unanimous outrage over this film. But let's not forget that at one point in the not distant past most Americans were against homosexuality, then during Obama's presidency they did a 180. I wouldn't be surprised if cuties is just a preview of what's to come
The people who support pedophilia are like a minority of gay people, and, you know, there are straight people who are that messed up as well. Pedophillia has nothing to do with homosexuality, it's just some idiots who support it. Saying the movement to get people to respect gay people has anything to do with pedophilia is like saying Isis represent Islam.
I agree with your opinion regarding this piece of filth and nonsense that is being pushed now by netflix. At the same time, this is one movie and there are thousands of movies on netflix that are not like this. I think this director, Mamouna Doucour, and the company that produced this should be boycotted and sanctioned. This movie is fahisha (corruption and indecency) masquerading as 'art' and 'expression'. At the same time, this is one of many. If you want to go after all of these, you will spend all your time doing this.
I think the main problem is that we, as muslims, do not take a firm stand against consuming and supporting media that goes against and mocks our values and beliefs. If we, as a muslim Ummah, refused to look at or watch, or buy media products that do this, the products would cease to be made. The reason is because the ones who produce these are only doing them for economic gain. If we show that if you do these kinds of products, you will be boycotted by a sizable minority of the population of the earth, these products would no longer be economically viable, hence they would disappear.
The other problem is that people have a desire to be entertained. Since Muslims are people, we also have this desire. At the present, electronic mediums such as t.v., internet, mobile phone, etc are the main medium for this entertainment since they are the cheapest and most efficient means of distribution for entertainment products. This desire to be entertained will never go away, and this medium of distribution will not go away anytime soon. What we, as muslims, need to do is create high quality, entertaining media for these platforms that fulfill this need for entertainment which keeping within our Islamic values and beliefs. There are some projects like this going on, but they are either low quality, not entertaining, not in our language, or too few and far between. So Muslims turn to these other products, like Netflix, to fulfill this need. That is the root of the problem, IMHO.
@Abu Hadi, what about Disney? Do we just boycott the Mulan movie because it was shot on grounds of Muslim concentration camps and Disney thanked the authorities there for letting them film? Or do we boycott the entire company?
Disney is involved in alot of different projects. I used to work for them (long time ago, lol). I think we should boycott Mulan and anything else we find offensive. I heard the movie wasn't that good anyway. But to boycott Disney in general, well, you would have to boycott almost all the stuff your kids watch.
@Abu Hadi So both fatwa's that we received are pretty much the same (that it is halal to subscribe as long as it is used for permissible/halal use and it only becomes haram to subscribe to it if a person cannot stop himself or his family from watching haram content). The fatwa I have is dated 22 Muharram 1442 (10th September 2020).
Yes. He is basically saying what every other marjaa has said before. This is the principle that anything that becomes a conduit or channel for haram activities to come into your life becomes haram itself. For example, if you find yourself drifting toward any media you are getting thru a particular source, and that media has haram content, then this source also becomes haram. The game platform Steam could be haram for some people, not for others. Twitch could be haram for some, not for others, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc. If the platform contains halal content and haram content (like Netflix), then it is halal or haram for the person depending on which type of media the person is watching. The fatwa doesn't have to do with Netflix specifically.
BTW, I thank the OP for making this thread and I think these types of threads are good to alert brothers and sisters to some of the filth and garbage that is on Netflix so they can avoid it. This is a practical form of Amr Bil Maroof wa Nahiya Al Munkhar (enjoining good and forbidding evil).
There was an exotic dancer performing at an elementary school in the earlier months. I can't link it here but just search "Pole dancer elementary school" on youtube. It's horrible and disgusting. Liberalism is getting way too out of hand.
As I have been researching content that exploits children and creates a disturbing vibe, I have found many shows and movies on Netflix to have similar inappropriate behaviors as Cuties, the movie this petition was originally based off. As Netflix has chosen to ignore the petition and the wishes of its customers, I feel we need to ban together and cancel our subscriptions! Please sign and share. Please make the choice to prove to Netflix our children are more valuable than our entertainment, and our money is better spent else where!
