To kick things off, here are some names already proposed.  Please add more!  If you particularly like, or dislike, anything that’s been submitted, let me know by emailing me directly (don’t “reply all” to this email – don’t want to unduly influence others’ opinions) your thoughts.

Remember, we’re trying to stay with either “Idea” or “Launch” in the final name, and most likely using “Sandbox” to start it off.

Ideas so far:

Sandbox Ideas

Sandbox Launch

Sandbox Launchpad

Sandbox Idea Accelerator

Sandbox Idea XLR8

Sandbox Idea Nexus

Sandbox IdeaBuild

Sandbox IdeaLab

Sandbox IdeaStart

Any others?

Thanks!

David

David, et al,

I was thinking a little play off of the industrial revolution history of Lowell and Lawrence might be interesting.  Came up with two:  Idea Mill and Idea Foundry.  Both speak to taking ideas and turning them into something valuable.  But did a quick check and found out that they are both already being used:  Idea Mill by an organization in Holyoke, MA and Idea Foundry by an organization in Columbus, OH.

Two others that come to mind are VentureLaunch and BizLaunch.   But again, a quick Google search indicated that both are already taken.  So no can do.  Also came up with IdeaLoom (to play off the textile angle)…where ideas get stitched together with training, support, mentoring, etc. to move them forward.  Seems to be available, but may be a bit limiting / confusing for the broader landscape.  Any thoughts?

Did some more checking on the ones mentioned below.  I think we may run into problems with Launchpad and IdeaLab (similar to the conflict with IdeaLaunch), so I would recommend against these two.

That’s all I got for today.  Will give it some more thought over the weekend.

--Tom

P.S.        Will send separate email to you directly with my feedback on the names suggested below.

I'd go for simple... Sandbox Idea or Sandbox IdeaStart

I do like Tom's Lowell and Lawrence identifiers but might follow that line for another program or maybe the accelerator.  Foundry/foundation has a nice thematic feel to it.
