HiI cannot connect my printer, I've several times tried to reinstall drivers, but it gives some inappropriate message and doesn't allow me to uninstall it. During the installation I've got this message " USB device not recognized. The last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it" and printer wasn't installed. I've checked and I'm sure that all usb ports are working. Tried to follow the troubleshooting steps but it doesn't list my issue. Printer is HP LaserJet 1022, (laptop HP is running on Windows 10 with latest updates on it) I have no idea what's wrong with it. usb ports are working, device was reboot several times, nothing from troubleshooting guidance is helped me,

I followed the link you provided but there is no download button for driver download. I can see button for utility-diagnosys tool but there is nothing related to driver software. I've attached my screenshot so what else I can try?

Hi, I downloaded dot4 port driver, I was able to manually configure it and set it as a default printer, but when I plug usb connector in I have the same errors that I had before. I captured some screenshots, please take a look, any ideas are appreciated. In bluetooth and other device tab you can see Unknown device, this is exact printer usb connection.

Add new printer manually -> don't let Windows 10 finds it by itself -> select old printer not on the list -> choose the bottom one of the four -> local port select DOT4_001 -> from HP menu list find out 1022, if there's not click "Windows Update" below right side of menu, waiting for its finishing......... -> go back and fint it again

The free Xerox Global Print Driver manages Xerox and non-Xerox printers on your network with a single, easy-to-use interface. It dramatically simplifies enterprise printer management for IT managers, making it easy to add and update printers without changing drivers.

Downloads and installs the Xerox Desktop Print Experience application. This application extends the feature set available on the Xerox V4 Print Drivers, exposing features such as accounting, secure printing, color adjustments, booklet creation, advanced finishing options, etc, and is required for full feature print functionality for the V4 Print Drivers.

See if you can print. If not, continue:

Download (and install) this package (From HP FTP) which will update drivers AND THE CERTIFICATE:

_Quick_Start/osx/Installations/Essentials/hp-printer-essen...

If the link comes up blank, try right/control clicking and saving it. Or right/control click and copy link, and paste into browser bar. If you get the malware warning part-way through the installation, go to System Preferences>Security & Privacy where you can tick a box and unblock the HP option.

Then reinstall your printer using: Apple Logo (Upper Left of Screen)/System Preferences/Printers & Scanners, and use the default drivers. If drivers do not show up, download and install the 5.1 driver package from here: =en_US . Then restart your computer.

I have the same problem with my HP Laserjet P1102. I've uninstalled all previous driver and tried to install the current one on the HP support site according to HP's instructions. But I have the follow error message and can no longer use my printer. I'm on macOS Big Sur.

Please any one help for intalling driver for Hp laserjet 1022, as earlier till 10.8 it was working fine but as i updated to 10.9 printer stoped working, i tried to install the driver again but its usless, apple please update the driver for OSX 10.9.

I had a similar issue several months ago. I used the HP driver and it never worked correctly, so I removed the printer and the software, and then used Microsoft updates to download the latest driver. It has worked since.

Hi, we are having problem with the Canon iR 1022iF printer. It started to behave strangely when printing multiple-page PDF files. From the attached samples of print, you may see that some letters were not printed, prints have been scaled up and cut off. Our iMac computer is using macOS Mojave version 10.14.5 operating system. I tried to install the latest driver here:

However, this driver does not support duplex printing like his printer is capable of. So the only option that I had was to install generic Apple PCL driver 2.1 for this printer. Until recently we were able to print all document just fine, including duplex using this driver. However, now the printer is behaving like crazy and we do not know what to do.

Is anyone else using the same printer with a combination of official Canon driver and OSX system and is able to duplex print?

Valentin

Hi, Danny,

we are from Slovenia and we got a reply from Canon Slovenia that they also can not test the driver since they do not have this type of printer available anymore. They told us to contact the nearest Canon printer repair shop and gave us the address. However, I wanted to verify if any other user of this printer has the same problem with the original Canon driver as we have, regardless of where they are in the world.

This printer has an OPTIONAL downloadable driver plug-in. Use hp-setup to install the printer, and to download and install the plug-in. Optional driver plugins generally enhance the speed or quality of printed output. Driver plug-ins are released under a proprietary (non-open) license and are not part of the HPLIP tarball release.

1 Network support indicates built-in ethernet and/or wireless networking. Alternatively, many devices may be operated on the network using an external JetDirect print server. Not all network configurations are supported. Please refer to the HPLIP FAQs for more information.

3 Scan supported means that PC initiated scan using a SANE compatible software application is supported over parallel, USB, or network (depending on I/O connection). Information on digital sending products is covered in note 9, below.

5 Fax supported means that PC initiated fax send is supported using hp-sendfax, once an appropriate CUPS fax queue is set up. Fax support varies on Linux distributions, based on the availability of python-dbus version 0.80 or greater (versions before 0.80 will not work with HPLIP). Click on the model name of each printer to get more detailed information.

8 ("Required") A downloadable driver plug-in is required for printing support. ("Optional") A downloadable driver plug-in is optional for printing support and may increase the speed, quality, or other aspect of printed output. ("No" or "None") A driver plug-in is not required nor available. Driver plug-ins are released under a proprietary (non-open) license and are not part of the HPLIP tarball release. For more information, please refer to this KB article

13 The "Summary of Available Features in Various Linux Distributions" table lists available features for distros that are supported by the HPLIP automatic tarball installer. Distros that are not listed will require a manual install procedure (See this page for more information).

14"Qt3" and "Qt4" refer to the supported UI toolkit. If "Qt3" is indicated, then the distro supports a GUI interface using the Qt3 UI toolkit. The Qt4 toolkit is not supported for the distro in this case. If "Qt4" is indicated, then the distro supports a GUI interface using the Qt4 UI toolkit. In this case, the Qt3 UI toolkit may also be available and used if desired. The appropriate UI toolkit will be automatically installed by the HPLIP installer.

Unfortunately, I have also had to follow Tim's advice - but I learned the hard way. I originally got an error in Vista Business (ick) saying "Spooler SubSystem App has stopped working." Then no printers would work HP, Epson, or otherwise. Could not get the Spooler to start again without crashing. So I followed similar advice from another source (basically the same instructions as what Tim has linked) that had me completely uninstalling Adobe Reader and all my other printers, deleting printer keys from the registry, deleting from C:/Windows/System32/Spool, and then uninstalling and reinstalling Windows Scan and Print functionality. As long as I don't ever reinstall Adobe Reader (any version - and I've tried as far back as 7), then I'm fine. I've found Foxit to be a good substitute to Reader.

You'd think Adobe would have a fix for this already. Especially when people are migrating away from their software. I can never install another piece of Adobe software on my system again because it crashes the printers, so my plans for Photoshop or Acrobat are out the window. I've got a system that's only a couple of months old, too. This sucks - big time.

Other forums - especially those from Windows and Adobe - will tell you it's a problem with your print drivers. I had 3 different newer printers go down and none would function - even when installed alone with the latest and greatest drivers - once Reader was installed. They all work fine on their own when Adobe software is not installed. As soon as Adobe Reader (7,8,or 9 versions) is installed, the print spooler crashes again. I guess I'm sticking with Foxit.

I have a client that has been dealing with this issue on a large scale. Close to 200 computers running Adobe, most with HP 1022 printers as local printers. Since Adobe isn't responding to the issue with an update, we (they) are migrating away. For most users downloading Foxit reader and using that to view and print .PDF's solves the issue. Shame that Adobe is losing customers over this but when you don't fix the problem there isn't much of a choice.

Our problem is we heavily use Adobe Pro and Adobe Standard to create documents. HP was zero help. But, I hooked up a Dell 1110 printer to one of the computers and the problem disappeared. So we are replacing the printers using a volume purchase from Dell. This was less expensive than continuing to waste labor cost on trying to solve the problem of driver/software incompatibility.

Every program that prints that I have tested so far releases these temporary files after the print job is over and they are deleted (presumably by the spooler). Printing with Adobe Reader leaves them in the folder. Next time you start a print job, the spooler crashes.
