How about a four week soiling series starting Nov. 15. I will
volunteer to be first Official Race Director. Starts scores and
calling fools. Last week the rules we have been practicing for so long
just got thrown out the window if you ask me. Give me some
input. JAWS

Ok with me Dave.  A SOLING series, beginning Nov 15.

I was not there for the SOLING event last week, but there were enough "close calls" in the SHARK racing to agree that the rules were pushed a bit.

Sailing according to the rules is on just about EVERYBODY's WEB SITE, and is also included in a continuing article in the AMYA magazine.  I think that the rules challenge has been around for a while and will continue to be the main topic of discussion UNLESS AND UNTIL we conduct races with an official RD whose judgment STANDS AS STATED.  No back talk. Do your 360 and sail on.

IF we don't sail/race with an RD, then foul calls become a pissing contest/disagreement session and nobody benefits.

My two cents.

OK by me for the series.
I will volunteer for RD second week.
I agree that the rules seemed to be thrown out the window.

Ready for the new series...............

I agree with the discussion. It seems after Butch announced the "rules", things kind of settled down to good, fair, fun sailing. I don't know what causes the collisions and shouting (except me on a port tack at the start). Maybe like stick time we should practice starts, only for about a half hour or so with someone calling fouls. Then another time rounding marks with overlaps. That would make the club as well as each skipper better sailors. The rules can be clear, confusing or intimidating, based on experience. I would volunteer for the Nov 29 series...... Great input Bob............thanks

Just a line to see if we agree on the Race Director.
I am under the impression that the Race Director is someone who is not sailing in the event.
Is that everyone's understanding?

Stan you will have to do all of your pratice this weekend. We will be in a all rules apply soling series Nov. 15th for four weeks. Then comes the soling nationals the week after. Without a series everyone just seems to play bumper boats. Yes even me.

Yes SHARKMAN Race Director dose not race. He watches the whole race and calls fouls as needed. We should give each RD an average of his other three races.
1st RD JAWS
2nd RD SHARKMAN
3rd and 4th RD needed                   Always looking for input         JAWS

Me neither!  But for the life of me why would anyone wanna' wipe a bull?  Wipe a fool .... maybe but .... a bull??

I found a website where one dog lover said "

Default Do you, or don't you wipe your dog's butt after it poops?

I didn't think people did this until I read up about it. My neighbor wipes her dog (chihuaha) with baby wipes after every single times it goes pee or potty.  Gee, doesn't this make a dog kind of high maintenance?? "

Butt wipe a bull??  I suppose if one had some "bull" on the face, butt wouldn't that remind one not to be a kiss _ _ _ ??

Now I remember reading that the government of Trinidad tried to wipe out the pit bull (dog) but then again who keeps his bull in a pit.  Seems to me that it would be harder to wipe especially if the bull in the pit was runny.  Ewwwwww!  Only politicians like runny bull pit !!
Of course Mr. Whipple might as he could increase the sales of Charmin !

I agree, and it is my understanding that currently, the race director is someone NOT SAILING in an event.  AN event consisting of multiple heats or races on a given day.

However, I suggest that the Race Director be someone who is NOT SAILING in a particular HEAT.  That way, we can have more than one race directed on any particular day and not keep an individual from participating throughout the day.

ME can be RD in third or fourth week, however it all depends on the home front. I can not make a firm commitment at this time.

That was a nistake on my part as I put the results of race 10 in the throwout box. And the throwout in the race 10 box.
The score for JC in the tenth race was 3 and the throw out was 6
I had it recorded as score for the 10th race 6 and the throw out as 3.
I have corrected that mistake and JC's score is 23 for the event
There was a tie for third which was broken by number of first place wins

I got the ok from the parks man to use the south end of the pond with
drive up to the picnic table privileges. All I have to do is get the
ok from BCC security to enter from there parking lot. There is only
one spot to get across the rest of the parking lot has a ditch all the
way around. We can be sailing from top of the hill with a very good
view of our boats and coarse. I am going to try to drive in today. If
I can get us in are all in favor.

Sounds like you've been a busy guy!  Are you speaking of the area where we used to sail; where those two little scrawny trees are, at the south end of the pond where we currently sail?  If so, I don't have a problem with it but what about visitors we invite?  holding a regatta?  what about general spectators not sailing with us?  Are we responsible for keeping them out of that area?  How will we do that?

Please don't be upset with me, I love the idea but I wonder if these are issues / questions we need to seek answers for ahead of time.

I am in favor of what ever you want to do Dave.
You are the one who developed the course at Chain of lakes. You made and deployed the marks and got up away from the dead air and stink from Sand Point.
Being closer with out some of the lugging would be a good thing.

So I am in favor and that counts for one vote.
See what the rest of the group think.

Dave and guys,

If I remember correctly, this is the same area of the pond where we INITIALLY sailed, on the day that the Park Opened and all of that summer.

I am in favor because it allows us to sail out of the trunk of the cars.  Great stuff.

Will be a bit tricky when the winds are Westerly, but nothing to be too concerned with.

The access to the south end of the pond is on hold. The nasty Dud at BCC said that was there property not the parks the signs say no vehicles and thats the way it was going to stay. But there are at least 4 chained spots on the park that will get us right there. I will have to work on the parks man a little harder.
In the mean time I moved the corse down a little out of most of the bad air. You might have to walk another 200 feet or so to be at the line but we all could use the walk.

I guess we will have a ceremony at the end of the series with presentations.
Thanks for the offer of the hot dogs.
I will send out an email letting everyone know and to bring something.
I will see if Bob will pick up the cup from Jimmys place.

I am working on something I think you are gonna like.
It is called a Dave Shark.

I like the sound of that Dave shark. I all ready picked up the cup from JC. I took it down to have 2009 name put on it like we don't know the name that will be on it. And had two small cups made for 2nd & 3rd place. All are at the house and ready for Sunday. I also have two 4 foot tables that should do the trick also have paper plates and plastic sporks. I'm going for the dogs and buns and chips this morning. Remember Footys at 12:00 sounds like Bob has his shark ready to spank. WE have two RD's for solings Sunday Bob on the line and George walking and watching the marks. So foulers beware.            JAWS
