Today watching TV on the Internet is very common and almost a natural thing. It seems like we always did and it seems like turning to a computer and watching your favorite show is like turning on the faucet and drinking lots of water, but actually this technology has been available to us only in recent years and it really started to develop in the past two or three years. It is also a very recent thing, the fact the major TV networks finally found a way and agreed to put their own major TV shows on line.
This is something that is groundbreaking and completely unthinkable just a few TV seasons ago. As time goes by, watching TV on the Internet will probably become the only way to watch TV, as it's easy to predict that TV sets will soon be replaced by very fancy computer monitors that will allow a perfect vision and an incredible image quality. The video feed already comes from the same source, data cable or satellite. Therefore a final switch is probably just around the corner.
There are a few copyrights issues to be addressed and also some technical ones regarding the sound, but those are small things, as the major discovery has been already made and everything is ready for a full Internet TV watching experience. Of course, the last step will be allowed once the big advertising money will finally stop supporting old-fashioned TV and fully concentrate on the Internet media, allowing more and more pay per click advertising and more sophisticated ways of generating cash to the web. Therefore let's be ready to say goodbye to our old TV set.
