From Angela. If you have time today, Green Spaces Alliance is really needs people to help take down exhibits at the convention center. In exchange, they'll let us take home some plants. See you there? -Marc

Hello everyone,

We still desperately need about 20-30 more volunteers. So, please pass this invite on. The more of us there are, the faster it will go.

The community gardens will not be able to have any of the following unless we have people to load it and deliver it.

Brick patio pavers – by the pallet

Stone edging – by the pallet

5-15 gallon ornamental trees

Fruit trees

Grape vines

Palms

20-100 of the following are available

Native grasses

Flowering plants and shrubs

Roses

Succulents

Annuals by the flat

Please encourage garden members and friends to join us anytime between 2p and 8pm on Sunday, 8/22.

Details follow.

We can’t do this without you … and your friends …and your families …and your trucks!

Please arrive Sunday, August 22:

2:00pm – Everyone and anyone who can stand guard around our donated supplies, help us disassemble the displays, or stack donated materials on palettes.

5:00pm – Everyone who can ONLY offer their vehicle should be downtown. We still need more trucks and trailers.

Timetable:

2pm - gather and assign tasks. Even if you can’t arrive by 2pm, please come as soon as you are able.

There will be a mad dash for grabbing up the donated supplies because some attendees think it is a free-for-all. We have been advised to be ready to guard our areas.

3pm – we can enter the convention proper and start disassembling our designated display areas

3:30 – start to stack pavers on palettes and plants on carts after carpet is rolled up

5pm – truck drivers should be parked in staging area (we will call you by cell phone when it is your turn to approach the loading dock)

5:30 – earliest that trucks will be invited to the loading dock

The Expo is being held at:

Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center

200 East Market Street
San Antonio, TX 78205-2784

I’ve attached a map below. The truck staging area is Lot B at the Alamodome. The most convenient parking costs $8 and is the Marina Parking Garage across the street from the Hyatt.

2pm volunteers will need to find your own parking. Most downtown parking meters are free on Sunday.

Once on foot, stay on street level.

Approach the convention center from Market Street Bridge where the river passes under the street and into/under the convention center.

The main entrances are adjacent to where the building bridges the river.

There are doors on the Hyatt side of the river and on the Convention Center side of the river. We will meet just inside the doors on the Convention Center side of the river.

What to bring:

Any shade of blue t-shirt, please wear it so that others might be able to find us.

Gloves

Knee-pads or knee cushions

Wheelbarrows, wagons, 2wheel trucks or any type of wheeled device.

Please contact me by cell phone 378-4634 if you have any questions.

Best,

Angela
