Is anyone planning to attend? I'll be there with my friend Rob. Also, can we all meet sometime this week to spread more DG pathway? How's Wednesday look for everyone?

Great Cities lecture series hosts PBS 'Nature' founder

The UTSA Center for Policy Studies and the Green Spaces Alliance of South Texas will host renowned biologist and environmental adviser Thomas Lovejoy as part of the Great Cities Dialogue lecture series, 7-8 p.m., Monday, Oct. 20 at the Buena Vista Theater on the UTSA Downtown Campus. The event is free and open to the public.

Lovejoy will speak on "Climate Change: Prospects for Nature" with the goal of promoting dialogue among citizens and policy makers in South Texas on how life in the region might be altered by climate change, what steps should be taken to thwart the change and what changes will be necessary to adapt.

Currently the president of The Heinz Center for Science, Economics and the Environment in Washington, D.C., Lovejoy is founder of the long-running PBS television wildlife series, "Nature." The Emmy Award-winning series, which premiered in October 1982, is one of the most watched in the world, featuring documentaries about animals and ecosystems. Lovejoy earned bachelor's and doctorate degrees in biology from Yale University.

I won't be able to make it on Wednesday -- I have class that night.

I will be at the Green Spaces Gala on Thursday though!

I've still got a work day penciled in for tomorrow. I'm at a lecture on Wednesday and might make the green spaces gala Thursday, so Tuesday still works best. The DG work can be split up over different workdays easily though since we only have one wheelbarrow. You'd think that UFO could afford to do a few crop circles through our weeds.

Cool - Did you get invited, crashing, going w/ Flato et al? Curious... K and I wanted to volunteer, but no word from the powers that be...

As for DG, does Tuesday work better for everyone? I need to know, b/c I don't want to be the only one out there pushing this stuff around... it would be nice to have everyone working together ;)

So I'm trying to get in on this LF table now, but otherwise I may just buy a ticket.

Where did he get the strawberry plants?  I've searched high and low before, I'd love to try them out in some hanging wall planters ive been dreaming of...  I've heard they are difficult to grow, but organic strawberries are so worth it..
