Friends,

Here is a lot of information from Quarterly Meeting. For me, the most interesting document is the State of the Meeting report (SOM).

Friends,

Please find attached:
  • Quick Notes from the January 17 online CPQM Winter gathering.
  • A draft "state of the quarter" report from CPQM to Pacific Yearly Meeting.
Additionally, during the Winter gathering, some of those attending asked for more information on the Quarter's examination of the role of Representatives from Monthly Meetings.  We did not record exactly who made this request, so it is being sent to all registered attenders and to this list of monthly meeting clerks and representatives.

Those attachments consist of:
  • A compilation of job descriptions for Representatives from various sources, including an excerpt from the newly approved proposal from our Implementation Committee, a new brief job description from CPQM Nominating Committee, and past email discussion on the topic ("Presiding Clerk - CPQM Reps overview").
  • A summary of the steps leading to the approval of the Implementation proposal and the Implementation Committee's vision for the new business meeting structure ("Implementation Ctte - Update & Resources").
  • The complete Implementation proposal, so you can see the context within which Representatives will function ("Implementation Ctte - Reps Proposal"). Note that not only Monthly Meetings are asked to appoint Representatives, but also other groups such as Young Adult Friends.
You are encouraged to read the various resources and forward them to your Meeting's Nominating Committee or whomever your Meeting has assigned the drafting of job descriptions to bring for approval by your Meeting.

At a later date, we may want to hold an interest group on the history of the Representative concept in our Quarter and Yearly Meetings, including related jobs like Correspondence Clerks.

If you have knowledge of this history, please let us know.  If you have questions, please contact the Presiding Clerk <CPQM...@gmail.com>.

- Eric Sabelman, Presiding Clerk, and Stephen Myers, Assistant Clerk
