Greetings Colleagues:

Last week I met with several staff members from Valley Water. They shared with me some information about the dire water shortage we all are facing, both in this current drought, but also for the long-term. Valley Water has a variety of resources for faith communities to reduce water consumption, which I will pass along to you in future.

One important role they are hoping we as faith leaders might take on is to help educate our congregations about a proposed water re-use and purification center, which they hope to build in our area. To that end, they are inviting us to take a virtual tour of such a center. The Silicon Valley Advanced Water Purification Center (SVAWPC) virtual tour highlights the processes and infrastructure that generates advanced purified water, which is a highly purified source of reused water that meets drinking water standards and is used in water supplies around the world.

Given the drought, expanding options for a reliable supply of safe, clean water is crucial for public health and our region’s future. Valley Water is reaching out to community leaders in hopes of expanding support for a very important proposed water purification project. The water reuse project is described in the attached flier along with information about the existing water purification demonstration facility (SVAWPC).

Tour attendees will see the purification center in action, virtually, and learn about the innovative technology behind advanced water purification.

Participants will also learn about water reuse, including the types of potable (drinkable) and non-potable (not drinkable) water reuse and future expansion of water reuse in Santa Clara County over the coming years.

I hope you will join me in attending the tour. Two tour options date/times are offered.  Please go to the below link to let me know your availability:

Peace be with you,

Eileen
