Statement Opposing the Death Penalty

Dear Friends,

If you have not done so, may I ask that you consider signing this statement by September 15 if possible? You may sign after that date, but it will probably be more effective if you can do so before then. This is especially important for residents of San Mateo County, but you can also indicate your support if you live in another county.

Statement Opposing the Death Penalty

The San Mateo District Attorney, John Wagstaffe, is actively expediting the prosecution of death penalty cases despite the governor's moratorium on executions in California. There are a number of local groups working to encourage him to stop doing this. Here is a statement drafted collectively by these groups which individuals and organizations can sign. You may show your support for this position whether you are a resident of San Mateo County or not. It will be most effective if you can do this by September 15.
