Python/Jython Developer.

Location: Lake Success, NY

Duration: 1+ Year

• Minimum 10+ years hands-on experience as a Systems Engineer
• Recent 2+ years in a lead position. 

 A strong understanding of TCP/IP networking as it pertains to host configurations.

• Senior level experience in clustering technologies including Veritas, Oracle Cluster Server and RAC.
• Senior level of experience in Solaris virtualization technologies
• Senior level experience administering multi-tier client/server environments

• Ability to manage multiple projects and day to day activities.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Work and lead junior members of the team with very little input from upper management.
• Define processes and procedures that increase function efficiency
• An above average understanding of networking concepts and practices
• Ability to travel to remote offices (New York)
• Ability to mentor  junior staff members
• A strong engineering educational background is preferred. 

Description:

This is a higher level position in the Infrastructure organization. The candidate will work closely with a multi-location, multi-discipline teams, using both technology and communication skills to overcome obstacles.  The ideal candidate will be flexible and able to overcome challenges in a win-win manner

Infrastructure Design:

• Pre-execution
• Defining and updating Infrastructure Standards (Servers, OS, SAN)
• Creating OS build for each server on standards list
• Potentially providing oversight of system engineers
• Defining and documenting Configuration Procedures
• Defining and documenting Installation procedures

Execution:

• Provide Resource Plan(s)
• Update resource plans for project initiation
• Publish updated resource plan
• TechOps Mgr(s), Resource Mgr, Project Mgr(s)
• Create High Level Tech design ( project specific)
• Document technical infrastructure design (based on standards)
• Document implementation approach
• Technical  approach
• Scheduling approach
• Transition to Execution Teams
• Provide technical leadership and  oversight

Regulatory Reporting:

• Ensure infrastructure components for reports are up to date and accurate
• Create presentation(s) for regulatory inspections
• Deliver presentations during regulatory inspections
• Participate in detailed interview sessions

Planning:

• Attend Product planning sessions
• Provide resource estimates for Resource Plans
• Provide planning information for Technology sponsored Initiatives
• Facilities:
• Work with Operations, Network and Capacity teams to provide upgrade recommendations during annual planning for:
• Datacenters, Labs
• Servers, SAN
• Network
• New Opportunity Evaluations:
• Participate in high level brainstorming sessions
• Conduct opportunity specific analysis of infrastructure
• Provide infrastructure recommendation
