Dear Fellow Climate Advocates,

While we celebrate our national independence this month, the war on our climate continues to rage in the background.

We have won some battles.

By uniting last year, we were able to able to stomp out the Prop 23 threat posed by the Koch Brothers and Big Oil. By doing the same last month, we were able to get the San Diego City Council to call for transit first in our regional transportation.

If we fail to pass a national climate bill, we will not win this war.

With congressional leadership on climate stalled and even moving backwards, a number of us have been examining the next phase for citizen participation in pressing for national climate/energy policy and are eager to share it with you.

On July 28 at 6:30 p.m. please join us for great food, networking and a focused discussion about next steps for large scale national action beginning with San Diego.

Café Zucchero’s in Little Italy

1731 India Street
San Diego, CA 92101

The cost for dinner is $20 per person plus tax and gratuity.  Friends and family are welcome.  Space is limited, so please RSVP by July 21 via email: anne...@gmail.com or  phone: 619-518-3178.

Best always,

Anne

Dear Fellow Activists,
I wanted to share with you my Op-Ed from today's San Diego Union Tribune entitled, "The Jobs Plan the President Missed," in which I describe how jobs can be created with a revenue-neutral, steadily rising carbon fee which is fully recycled to all households as a dividend or rebate. We at EcoVolve and at Citizens Climate Lobby believe the fee and dividend is the best plan going forward to combat climate change and a host of important and intertwined issues such as national security and energy independence. I, EcoVolve, and CCL have lined up behind Fee and Dividend for a reason. Please take a little time to reflect on "fee and dividend." If you would like to discuss it further with me, please feel free to call me.

If you like the plan, then consider doing the following: 1) write a Letter to the Editor in support (let...@uniontrib.com), 2) contact your Congresspeople in support, and 3) write President Obama in support. Finally, if you would like me to make a presentation to your group another civics group on fee and dividend, let me know.

Best regards, John Reaves
