Hi Feminists,
So this upcoming Monday (June 21st) is book club. We're meeting at
6:30 PM at Progressive Health Services (that adorable yellow house at
2141 El Cajon Blvd). We're discussing Jessica Valenti's "The Purity
Myth: How America's Obsession with Virginity is Hurting Young Women."
Look for discussion questions sometime between now and then, courtesy
of Maggie.
You should come with $4 and some ideas for the August's book choice -
the topic is South and Central American Feminism. (No one turned away
for lack of funds. In fact, no one will notice if you don't put money
in the jar.) We also tend to go out afterward, so consider bringing a
few extra bucks if you're in the mood to socialize.
Unfortunately, movie night got postponed but there's a great free
lecture about the future of reproductive health with the new Supreme
Court. It's at the end of the month; I'm thinking we should make a
lecture-and-socializing event of it. I'll post details in the coming
days.
