Hi Feminists,

Thanks for the great discussion in March about women and negotiation –
I for one have been practicing extensively. Our next book is called
“The Daddy Shift: How Stay-At-Home Dads, Breadwinning Moms and Shared
Parenting Are Transforming the Twenty-First-Century Family” by Jeremy
Adam Smith. We’ll be meeting on Friday April 23rd at Progressive
Health Services (2141 El Cajon Blvd). Details and discussion
questions will be sent out a few days before the meeting. And yes –
there’s a rumor the author will be available via video conference.

Also, please bring suggestions for June’s book topic – Virginity.

If you happen to be free in the middle of the day, there’s an
interesting feminist event coming up: April 7 1PM-3PM SDSU in Storm
Hall 351 Women’s Studies Department will present the Women’s Studies
Colloquium “Bodies Out of Bounds: The Fat Studies Reader” Presenters:
Esther Rothblum, Ph.D., Sondra Solovay, J.D., and Bianca Wilson,
Ph.D. More info: erot...@mail.sdsu.edu

Also, if you haven’t already done so, check out our fabulous page on
GoodReads - http://www.goodreads.com/group/show/5299.San_Diego_Feminist_Book_Group
.
See you in April,

Rainey

Thank you Rainey,
I for one would be interested in attending this lecture if I can swing
it, I'll see. Body image and feeling good about oneself (when you're
not going to be "Barbie" has been a personal focus so this is up my
alley)
If anybody wants to carpool with me there when it gets closer, let me
know.Shannon

Hi everyone - I for one will be at the Bodies Out of Bounds colloquium.  I am very proud to say that Dr. Bianca Wilson, one of the featured presenters and contributing author to the Fat Studies Reader, is my big sis. If I may brag, she is amazingly intelligent and a great speaker. Esther is also a phenomenal voice in the size diversity movement and wonderful to hear lecture. I had the pleasure of hearing them present together in Portland 2 months ago for a Women in Psychology conference and their session was very engaging.

I hope to see you all!

Sabrina

p.s. - Rainey - thanks so much for suggesting. xo
