2014 World Down Syndrome Day "Special treasures" Spring Festival

You can participate in the 2014 World Down Syndrome Day Event at the ARC at 9575 Aero Drive in San Diego.  The event will begin at 3:30 and go until 6:30 PM or so.  We have a very nice event to make this Spring Festival a memorial one.  First off, World Down Syndrome Day is a day the UN has designated as March 21st each year.  Of course you know the date is significant since individuals with Down Syndrome have a third 3 copy  of the 21st chromosome.  We want to come together for many reasons besides just having fun.  We want the community to get to know about us, families to get to know each other and we want to recognize your great efforts.  So please let everyone know about this day and make a call to the local press and ask them to cover it.  The more the public is aware of how terrific these individuals are the more attention we will receive.  This leads to more research funding and educational opportunities as well as many more benefits.

So first I am happy to say that the western group Trails and Rails will be performing.  They are just amazing and will be nice to hear as everyone participates in the nearly 20 Olympic style events.  Each participant will receive an Olympic style medal.  Also we will have a raffle and each person will receive one ticket to enter the raffle.  Additional tickets can be purchased for $1 each or 20 for $10.  The first 20 to arrive at 3:30PM will receive a free additional ticket.  There will be many nice items given away.

Free pizza courtesy of DSA will be provided as well as bottled water to keep you hydrated during the events!

Also we will have some local vendors attending which have contributed to the event so please visit and meet them.

There will be many volunteers from Pi Beta Phi of SDSU the woman's fraternity to help with the events.

Some of you wanted to make a donation and we can use it as all our events are free.  Make your donation here.  Donate Here

Also please remember that a major source of funding are your book donations.  We resell them to pay for these free events.  So if you ever want to have a book drive let us know.

Our volunteer page is Volunteer

Please make a call to any families that you know that also have a family member with Down Syndrome and invite them to join us.

There are many more special things that are in the works for this event.  As we receive commitments we will let you know.

Thank you
