Hi all, just a friendly reminder that Tuesday at 7:00pm is the next
book club meeting. We'll be discussing the first chapter of Real World Haskell. It would be a good idea to work through the chapter and exercises yourself beforehand on your computer so we can take that into account during our disscussion.
I understand there may be a few new people attending this meeting, so a bit of extra information: we normally meet online, via Skype (a free program downloadable at
http://skype.com/). We occasionally (once every few months) have an in-person meeting at a coffeeshop or someone's house, but we work out the details on that well beforehand, so everyone has time to plan. Meetings generally last about an hour.
Anyone that is new to Skype, try to get on a few minutes early so we
can work out any technical problems beforehand. If you haven't done a
voice chat using your computer before, make sure you have sound and a
mic, and if you're planning on using speakers(on a laptop or
otherwise), keep a pair of headphones handy as a backup as sometimes
speakers cause echo with these programs (really, headphones would be
preferable). Headphones with a built-in mic would be ideal. Also, Skype
has a test account listed in Skype settings that you can call to test your
setup.
My Skype ID is ajepst, and I'll be creating/running the conference.
IM me on Skype a few minutes beforehand once you're online to let me
know that you want to be part of the conference and I'll add you in when
we get started.
