Second, for those of you planning on participating, I was wondering
how you all were progressing on the reading. This meeting's reading
measures in at about 75 pages. Considering the length of the
reading, many people not finishing seems like a real risk. Personally,
I'm about halfway through, about to start "Anticorruption Layer". *If*
it's looking like people are generally not going to finish, we might
just want to declare that we're only doing part of chapter 14 so
people have a set, attainable goal to stay up late reading for :D For
anyone who hasn't started, I have to say, chapter 14 is turning out to
be really good, and really directly applicable to work/thinking... we
should definitely give this chapter the attention it deserves. So, do
chime in on about where you're up to if you're planning to
participate, and maybe if you think you'll realistically finish.
Third: The meeting after this is Real World Haskell: if you are
planning to buy the paper book and have not yet done so, it's time to
get on Amazon and do some ordering!
-----------
Hi all, just a friendly reminder that Tuesday, the 1st of September at 7:00 is
the next book club meeting.Current reading scheduled for discussing is chapters
13 and 14 in the DDD book.
Anyone that is new to Skype, try to get on a few minutes early so we
can work out any technical problems beforehand. If you haven't done a
voice chat using your computer before, make sure you have sound and a
mic, and if you're planning on using speakers(on a laptop or
otherwise), keep a pair of headphones handy as a backup as sometimes
speakers cause echo with these programs (really, headphones would be
preferable). Headphones with a built-in mic would be ideal.
My Skype ID is ajepst, and I'll be creating/running the conference.
IM me on Skype once you're online to let me know that you want to be
part of the conference and I'll add you in when we get started.
