MEET THE DJ

Milonga, Saturday, October 8th
Time: 9:30pm
Cost: $15
DJ: J
ohn Turci-Escobar
John is a music scholar, dancer, and DJ. He teaches in the Music Theory/Composition division at the University of Texas at Austin.  He has presented his research on tango music in national and international conference, and is currently writing a book on the early history of the tango.
John favors music from the Golden Age of Tango. But over the course of the evening, don't be surprised if you hear one or two tandas from more contemporary groups, such as the Sexteto Milonguero.

In the past year, John has DJ'd in the Austin Spring Tango Festival and in Dallas Tango Festival. John is thrilled to make his debut in San Antonio, a community for which he has great affection.
