Good afternoon, K-12 STEM outreach group!

I hope you are enjoying your summer! I am reaching out to share some exciting outreach opportunities with you. We would like to invite your organization to participate in our upcoming Hot Science – Cool Talks events this fall. Our schedule includes:

  • Friday, September 12th: “Life and Death by Impact” with Dr. Sean Gulick [astrobiology + the asteroid that killed the dinos]
  • Friday, October 10th: “How to Make Your Cat Love You. With Science!” with Dr. Mikel Delgado [cat science]
  • Friday, November 14th: “Birds are Smarter!” with Dr. Carlos Botero [bird brains and intelligence]

Each event will take place in Welch Hall on the UT Campus. We invite organizations to engage in Cool Activities before each talk, where attendees can explore hands-on activities, displays, and demos related to the topics and relevant STEM careers. Organizations set up starting at 5:00 p.m. and will lead activities from 5:30 to 6:40 p.m. The talk starts at 7:00 p.m. and ends at around 8:15 p.m. We can provide tickets for event volunteers. We expect around 480 attendees, including K-12 students, teachers, families, university students, and adult learners. Many will arrive early to explore the Cool Activities. You can see a video about our events here.

If you are interested in tabling in one, two, or all of the events, please contact me at Angelin...@jsg.utexas.edu to reserve your space and let us know what you will need during the event. If you'd like to discuss your hands-on activity or demo in more detail, feel free to email me to set up a brief phone call or Zoom meeting.

If you are interested in bringing an organization or school group, please contact me at Angelin...@jsg.utexas.edu!
