Good afternoon, K-12 STEM outreach group!

I hope you are enjoying your winter! I am reaching out to share some exciting outreach opportunities with you. We would like to invite you to attend our upcoming Hot Science – Cool Talks events this spring. Our schedule includes:

  • February 20, 2026 — The Biology of Love [Rodent Monogamy] — Steven Phelps (UT Austin); register here
  • March 27, 2026 — The Story of Our Cosmic Home [Galactic Archeology] — Keith Hawkins (UT Austin)
  • April 17, 2026 — The Way We Move [Primate Locomotion] — Liza Shapiro (UT Austin)

Each event will take place in Welch Hall on the UT Campus. We invite organizations to engage in Cool Activities before each talk, where attendees can explore hands-on activities, displays, and demos related to the topics and relevant STEM careers. Organizations set up starting at 5:00 p.m. and will lead activities from 5:30 to 6:40 p.m. The talk starts at 7:00 p.m. and ends at around 8:15 p.m. We can provide tickets for event volunteers. We expect around 480 attendees, including K-12 students, teachers, families, university students, and adult learners. Many will arrive early to explore the Cool Activities. You can see a video about our events here.

If you are interested in tabling in Cool Activities or bringing a group to the talk, please contact me at Angelin...@jsg.utexas.edu.

best,
