Buenos dias, colegas :)
On behalf of the Alamo STEM Ecosystem & Department of Defense Alamo STEM Hub, I wanted to communicate what we are up right now and invite our incredible STEM community to partner with us as we serve students and educators in the San Antonio region.
Linked here is a one-pager that summarizes all our grant activities with the Department of Defense STEM - Defense STEM Education Consortia, but I'd like to specifically invite you to partner with us for two (in-person) events coming up early next year.
Alamo STEM Youth Summit
Wednesday, January 17, 2024, from 9:00 - 2:30 pm at St. Mary's University
More than ever, there’s a global priority of preparing students for STEM college and careers at the secondary level with high-quality experiences that increase career awareness and help cultivate relationships, mentorships, and work-based experiences in our region. Our goals are to:
Our ASE-DSEC Hub could potentially serve and impact 200-300 middle and high school students in our region through this event! Let us know if you're interested & available to serve as a presenter, exhibitor, and/or STEM mentor at the event. We are also providing swag bags for students so they can take home information to their families and a swag bag for their teacher chaperone so they can share the information they've learned with their other students and campus staff (counselors, administrators, etc.). Definitely let us know if there are stickers, promotional items, or fliers you'd like to add (we will print materials and load up the swag bags before the event).
Alamo STEM Ecosystem Educator Conference
Saturday, February 3, 2024, from 8:30 am - 2:30 pm at Palo Alto College
www.alamostemecosystem.org/conference/
The Alamo STEM Ecosystem Educator Conference is an annual event for San Antonio-area teachers and pre-service teachers. The goal for this one-day conference is to provide access to and information about innovative resources & valuable information they can immediately take back to their classrooms, as well as personally connect them to STEM partners within our network. We are pleased to announce a beautiful collaboration for this year's conference entitled, 'Defend the Future', between the DSEC grantee, the Alamo STEM Hub, and NDEP grantee, Military City, U.S.A. (community college consortia). We really want to put DoD STEM on the map in our community! Alamo Colleges (Palo Alto College STEM Center) will serve as the conference chair and should have the call for proposals ready soon. If you'd like to collaborate as a presenter, exhibitor, and/or network with the 150-200 educators from San Antonio, please let us know. We have a similar ask regarding swag bag materials as stated above.
Our sleeves are rolled up and we are getting things done over here, but we'd love to do it with you. I've only described two activities but we have many others that serve elementary students and early college students too. Please review the one-pager and contact us if you'd like more information.
Since I oversee two federal grants, I'm often in the field and get behind on my emails. For an immediate response or question, feel free to text or call me directly at (210) 789-1170.
Respectfully,
