During October Beer festival the hotels and hostels are all overbooked
and very expensive..
But in your case since you are looking for a long term accommodation,
Oct. fest should not be a problem.
Finding a good place to stay in Munich is generally a big issue but
you will find one after doing some research and spending good time for
it.
Another way is to find a reliable agent and pay him commission to find
a room for you however students generally don't choose this option.
Talk to your seniors, see if someone can provide you temporary
accommodation for few days, things are much different when you are
personally present here..
Also as Aditya suggested contact the international office. And talk to
your batch mates.
In case you have any doubts or need any help during your initial days
you can contact me.
All the best.
Kind Regards,
Shailesh
