The Samvera Board is holding a special election to fill two seats that remain vacant from members who stepped down after taking new positions. One seat serves through December 31, 2027 (two years) and one seat through December 31, 2028 (three years). Both seats would be eligible to run for an additional three year term.
Samvera Board membership provides a unique opportunity for community leadership. We need your help to guide the Samvera Community’s budget and strategic directions!

Please nominate yourself or a colleague for the Samvera Board: Board Nomination Form
One individual will serve through December 31, 2027 (two years) and one will serve through December 31, 2028 (three years). Both will be eligible to run for an additional three year term.
Nominees must be employed with a Samvera Partner organization in good standing.
Nominees must provide a Statement of Purpose describing:
Relevant Experience
Reason they wish to serve on the Board
Organizations may not have more than one representative on the Board so nominations will not be accepted for individuals at institutions which will already have a Board member. What is the Commitment for Board Members?
Those considering running for the Board should review, and have the support of their institution for, fiscal and time commitments related to the role.
Members generally dedicate 1-2 hours a week to Samvera leadership work, with additional time needed from members who hold the Board Chair, Vice Chair, and Treasurer roles.
Board members have a 90 minute call once per month, and with occasional ad hoc calls. Travel is not required. The Board generally meets face-to-face one to two times per year if there is an in-person Samvera Community meeting opportunity, but there is always an option to join these meetings virtually.
The Board of Directors provides stewardship and central administration of the Community. Duties include:
Working with the fiscal sponsor to set the annual budget
Approving new Community structures
Determining when decisions must be brought to the Partners for a vote
Outreach to potential Partners
Handling sensitive issues
Stewardship and caretaking of the Community as a whole, in partnership with the Community Manager
providing continuity of the Community
Delegating work to the Community Manager
