Fedora Camp 2026 — Join Us in Vienna This September

Maybe youve heard? But maybe not! We're excited to announce that Fedora Camp is returning to Vienna. And this year's event is shaping up to be our best yet!

From September 2–4, 2026, the Fedora community will gather at the University of Vienna for three days of engaging, hands-on work, focused on digital preservation and Fedora best practices. Whether you're a repository developer, digital collections manager, or open-source advocate, this is your opportunity to learn from others, share your own experiences, and engage in meaningful community discussion.

Why attend?

  • Small by design. Fedora Camp welcomes between 30–50 attendees which means focused, meaningful discussion centred around the things that are relevant to you.
  • See it in practice. Dedicated sessions on real-world Fedora implementations, and discussion on the technical challenges teams are actually facing.
  • Shape the future. Fedora Camp is the only in-person event this year, so come be part of creating a sustainable future for the software you are actively building on.

A program built for everyone

The full program is still taking shape, and that means there's still time to be part of it. Our Call for Proposals is open, and we welcome submissions from practitioners at all levels. Submit your idea today: https://wiki.lyrasis.org/spaces/FF/pages/438698135/Fedora+Camp+2026

Alongside community-contributed sessions, the Fedora program team is expanding on last year's hands-on workshop content with a multi-track workshop approach, designed to offer something meaningful whether you're just getting started with Fedora or have years of experience under your belt. More details on the program will be shared as they are confirmed.

A special addition this year: Cerabyte Labs (https://www.cerabyte.com/)

We're thrilled to offer attendees an exclusive guided tour of the Cerabyte Labs at the Science Campus of TU Wien. This is a rare behind-the-scenes look at a fundamentally different approach to long-term data storage. Designed from the ground up for longevity, sustainability, and cost efficiency, Cerabyte's technology has real implications for the future of digital preservation. If you've ever wondered what storage built for centuries — not just years — looks like in practice, this is a unique opportunity to find out.

An evening to remember

Joining us again this year, our partners from the PHAIDRA community will be hosting a sponsored social dinner. This is the perfect chance to connect with colleagues in a more relaxed setting and continue the conversations from the day.

Fedora Camp 2026 is the only in-person community-run event being held this year. Registration will open shortly, with Early Bird pricing available and special pricing for Fedora Members. Space will be limited to 50 attendees, so register early!

We look forward to seeing you in Vienna.

Cheers,

Arran
