This email is an invitation to participate in the DLF Assessment Interest Group’s (DLF AIG) working group on metadata (https://wiki.diglib.org/Assessment:Metadata) in 2026. There is more information about the group below, but first, a few words about participating in DLF AIG. 

The only requirement for participation in a DLF AIG working group is a willingness to dig in and devote a small part of your time contributing to the tools, methods, and body of knowledge on digital library assessment. Attendance at the DLF forum is not a requirement for participation in any of the working groups. Additionally, if your institution is not a DLF member, you can still participate.

Metadata Working Group Accomplishments for 2025

Here’s what we worked on last year!

• Initial public release of metadata quality benchmarks
• Updates to the group website format and information, including resources open to new submissions:
  • Management of the Metadata Application Profile Clearinghouse 
  • Management of the Tools Repository

Metadata Working Group Goals for 2026

We’re still working on setting our goals for 2026, but here are a few things we’re planning:

• Ongoing maintenance of the group website 
• Continued compilation and description of tools, workflows, and resources for assessment
• Possible options for asynchronous participation

How can you participate?  

• Join the Metadata Working Group Google Group to get announcements, agendas, and connection details for upcoming meetings
• Comment on the 2026 Work Plan to help us set priorities and directions for work in the upcoming year
• Join us for one (or both) of our 2026 Kickoff Meetings:
  • Wednesday, February 18 at 4 pm ET / 3 pm CT / 2 pm MT / 1 pm PT / 11 am HT
  • Friday, February 20 at 2 pm ET / 1 pm CT / 12 pm MT / 11 am PT / 9 am HT
