Hello Everyone,

To kick off the weekend, we are excited to announce that the Fedora 6.5.0 Release Candidate 1 is ready and available for testing. Pending any issues discovered during the testing phase, the 6.5.0 release is planned for February 29, 2024.

This RC has been a long time coming, and incorporates many features/updates and bug fixes including (but not limited too) the following:

Full release notes can be found here: https://github.com/fcrepo/fcrepo/releases/tag/fcrepo-6.5.0-RC-1

We need your help testing and providing feedback on the RC to ensure it is successful. Please consider how you can help.

There are several ways you can test this release candidate:
1) Download the one-click-run -
https://github.com/fcrepo/fcrepo/releases/tag/fcrepo-6.5.0-RC-1
2) Download the war file to deploy into a servlet container -
https://github.com/fcrepo/fcrepo/releases/tag/fcrepo-6.5.0-RC-1
3) Run in docker - https://hub.docker.com/r/fcrepo/fcrepo/tags?page=1&name=6.5.0-RC-1

Please provide your feedback on the release testing page, on Fedora Slack in the #Tech channel or by reaching out directly to me (arran.g...@lyrasis.org) or Dan Field (dan....@lyrasis.org).

Along with fcrepo core, we also have release candidates for the following:

As with fcrepo core, testing for all of the above tools can be done in the same way.

We are extremely grateful to our dedicated group of committers and tech team who have worked extremely hard to make this possible. I would like to take a moment to thank the following individuals who contributed to elements of these releases:

  • Ben Pennell – University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
  • Jared Whiklo – University of Manitoba
  • Dan Field – Fedora/Lyrasis
  • Mike Ritter – Fedora/Lyrasis
  • Jonathan Leitschun – Open Source Security Foundation
  • Danny Bernstein – Lyrasis
  • Ralf Claussnitzer - Saxon State and University Library Dresden
  • Peter Winkles – Formerly UW Madison

Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any problems or concerns. We are looking forward to a successful release!

Cheers,

Arran
