REMINDER! We are only a few days out from the April Solutions Showcase event hosted by the AI Discussions Working Group! See attached email for all of the details.

FAQs:
I can’t make the time slot. Are the sessions recorded?
  • Yes! All sessions are recorded, but you need to register to receive your link to the recording.

Are the sessions free?
  • Yes! All of the Solutions Showcases are free to attend.

Who should attend these Showcases?
  •  They are open to everyone, and we encourage all interest and skill levels to attend. The Showcases are intended to provide real-world examples of solutions that individuals, service providers, and institutions are implementing to help protect their infrastructure from the impacts of aggressive bot activity. The open-floor Q&A at the end of each Showcase is a great way to ask questions and dive deeper into topics delivered during the event.

Some of these solutions have been done already. Why should I come to the next one?
  • It has been our experience that each implementation of a solution is a little different. Each use case is unique, and each presenter has shown a slightly different approach to their own "fine tuning" which helps meet their specific needs. These slightly different approaches are what make the Showcases most interesting - seeing exactly how others are using common tools for which may feel familiar.

How can I view past Solutions Showcases?

Looking forward to seeing everyone in April and May for our next two events.
Cheers,
Arran, on behalf of the AI Discussions Working Group

Subject: AI Discussions WG: New Solutions Showcase Series Events!

Colleagues,

We are excited to announce the next two sessions in the AI Discussions Working Group: Solutions Showcase Series. The Solutions Showcase Series is a virtual event series bringing together individuals and institutions from across the GLAM sector to demo practical solutions they've implemented to mitigate the negative impacts of AI bot harvesting on their systems, including repositories, websites, catalogues, and more.

April: Service Provider Focus

Details: Notch8: Cloudflare + Customized Infrastructure & Lyrasis: AWS WAF

Date: Wednesday, April 22, 2026

Time: 12:00 - 1:00pm Eastern

Location: Zoom - https://lyrasis.zoom.us/meeting/register/vDkCUxpeQIenIhRoYCJ4DA

Notch8: This session highlights their approach to mitigating large-scale AI scraping using Cloudflare’s edge protections—combining WAF, rate limiting, and bot management implemented via Infrastructure as Code to protect shared, multi-tenant platforms without degrading legitimate access.

Lyrasis: This session will provide an overview of the AWS/WAF solution used to protect ArchivesSpace hosted clients at Lyrasis.

May: LibLynx; Bot Filter

Details: LibLynx: Bot Filter

Date: Wednesday, May 13, 2026

Time: 9:00 - 10:00am Eastern

Location: Zoom: https://lyrasis.zoom.us/meeting/register/3nhNv8SCTAOzG_cB5YCXOA

LibLynx: In this session, the LibLynx team will discuss a tool they have developed called The Bot Filter. It uses a combination of techniques including machine learning and IP address verification, to automatically classify and categorize bot traffic.

*Please note - you must register for each session separately.

  • Each session will feature a live demo and time for Q&A.

  • Demos will span a diverse range of technical approaches, including open and non-open source solutions.

The Solutions Showcase Series is organized by the AI Discussions Working Group, a collaborative initiative that emerged from shared concerns about the impact of AI-driven web harvesting on academic institutions. While our initial focus was on academic repositories, we’ve since expanded our scope to include all corners of the GLAM sector.

Have a solution to share?
We’re actively looking for additional presenters! If your institution has addressed AI bot scraping in a creative or effective way, we’d love to feature your work. Please reach out to Arran Griffith at arran.g...@lyrasis.org to book a presentation slot.

Cheers,
Arran Griffith, on behalf of The AI Discussions Group
