Scholars,

GeetaParivaar teachers say ( in chapter 12) that सततं योगी should be pronounced as ' सततैं योगी' and not as satatam yogi.
Is this correct?
Regards.

सतत upto this normal pronounciation.
the anuswara portion when followed by   य,व, ल needs to be pronounced with the help of nose..
It resembles the one which you indicated.

I think it should be य व ल followed by anuswara and not anuswara followed by य व ल। It is represented as यँ, वँ, लँ। It occurs in Vedic Sanskrit, in the Dhatupatha with anubandhas or in Sandhi. Eg श्रीमालँलोकत्रयाश्रयः (actually the chandrabindu should be above ल् (a halanta लकार)। As there is no provision for chandra bindu above a halanta, I have used ल)

Geeta pariwar do not teach as you said in your email, you have heard it wrong,
Please send me which Shloka you are referring to,
I will send you audio for it.
I am taking Geeta pariwar class and they do not teach it the way you described it.

Dhanyawad,
Prashant

सन्तुष्टः सततं योगी यतात्मा दृढनिश्चयः।
मय्यर्पितमनोबुद्धिर्यो मद्भक्तः स मे प्रियः।।12.14।।
Here the word is सततम्.

सततम् + योगी = सततँयोगी  -मोऽनुस्वारः (8.3.23)-> वा पदान्तस्य (8.4.59)
अनुस्वारस्य परसवर्णः अनुनासिकः यँकारः ।
( of course you have an option of not using 8.4.59 & stopping with 8.3.23, then anuswara will remain intact)

whereas श्रीमालँलोकत्रयाश्रयः
here it is श्रीमान् + लोकत्रयाश्रयः = श्रीमा ल्ँ लोकत्रयाश्रयः - तोर्लि (8.4.60)
तोः लि परसवर्णः संहितायाम्

In both cases it is the अनुनासिकः यँकारः or लँकार:

Now the question is how to pronounce अनुनासिकः यँकारः or लँकार: ?
which one to pronounce first? anuswAram followed by ya, va, la OR
ya,va,la followed by anuswAram

Answer:
It is customary to pronounce the ( anuswAram) chandrabindhu first through nose, then an Agama य्  for ucchArana sauharyam, then  यो
While pronouncing it will be सततँय्योगी

स्वर्ग: - Here repha that is pronounced first then gakAra , not the other way..
