I want to know the meaning of samika.
I searched a lot for 6 months to find the meaning. The one that is given in baby names list defines it as Peace. I don't know how it is related.

There is a rushi name Samika - shamika who is peace goer. So does it mean peace so? I have no idea.

In Monier Dictionary, It defined as Pike, Javelin. So if I name baby with this name does it mean she is sharp like these weapons? Or does it mean Weapon?

I am so confused.

Another research found me this Samika - a three note in our Carnatic music.
archika, gathika, samika

Ga ri Saa - this group of three notes were called saamika not samika. or is it samika?
The beginning of saamaveda was with these notes.
The whole of samaveda is full of music samagana.
Sama-gana( Sama- Melody, Gana - to sing) with one note is called Archika, with two notes Gathika, with three notes Saamika, with four notes swarnatara, with five notes Oudava, with six notes Shadava and with seven notes Sampurana.

So can anyone clear my confusion. I named my baby samika. I want to make sure about the meaning. Please help me find the real meaning.

नमस्ते प्रसन्ना-महोदये !
दृश्यते शमिका-शब्दस्य व्युत्पत्तिः  प्रायः शमिन्-शब्दात् |
It seems that the word शमिका has its etymology from word शमिन्.
शमिन्-शब्दः आपटे-महाभागस्य शब्दकोशे एवं विवृतोऽस्ति |
This word शमिन् is detailed in Apte's dictionary as below -

तेन शमिका = calm, tranquil, peaceful, self-controlled.

I wish that your शमिका also grows to become a girl of such qualities and you will have a jolly good time with her.

Thank you so much for this prompt response.  It was very informative. But we are pronouncing her name as समिक which is why I have all this confusion.
When you write in English it is simply Samika. Everywhere in records we mentioned it that way.

According to the link below. The same samika has several meaning some of which are not appropriate for baby naming. But I understand that the pronunciation is different as shown in the link. If possible can you write down in hindi language so that I can  to understand.

Moreover what about my research? Does it make any sense to analyze it that way. or does it mean what you said.

I initially thought it was Peaceful when I googled and named her that way. But later when I kept looking it gave negative meaning. Please help me.  I named her only because it has Sanskrit meaning. My in laws and my parents did not like it at all. They felt it was more like French name. I want to give them good idea.

Thanks a lot for your time. I really appreciate Sir.

I hope the chosen name indeed is सामिका and not श्यामिका.  The latter is unflattering as a name.  Cf. हेम्न: संलक्ष्यते ह्यग्नौ विशुद्धि: श्यामिकाऽपि वा|

श्यामिका means the impurity of gold, than purity of gold.

SAMIKA TRADING is well known as Restaurant Business consultants that aims to provide the entire solution for restaurants for commodities and kitchen managements needs in Japan.

प्रसन्ना or प्रसन्न has not written in Hindi, to make any explanations possible and or even how they pronounce it is a different thing. If she/he had asked before naming, it would have been useful to suggest some meaningful name.

Thanks for all those who tried to explain the given name already.
