Sanskrit sentence help

सर्वेभ्यो नम:

I want to know how to form the sentence:

"The cows moo together and chase the lion."

गाव: शब्दं कृत्वा सिंहम् परिकालयन्ति ?

I don't know the exact word for "chase" in the exact sense. I found
the word परिकालयन्ति from spokensanskrit.de website but not sure if
this is a correct word.

The causal form of पलाय् [A. पलायते] - पालयति could possibly mean to chase. MW also mentions "पल् palati to go (perhaps to account for 'pAlayati' 'palAyate'

There are so many verbs for chasing in the dictionary, of which मृगयति is also available, from which मृगया is derived, meaning hunting. अनुद्रवति is also available, which means chase after. अनुद्रुतः = chased. 

For पलायते - परा+अय गतौ is the Paninian derivation. उपसर्गस्यायतौ "८।२।१९। makes the prefix into ल् -  पलायते।

It is to be noted that there are no synonyms even within a language exactly and it will be too much to expect exact synonyms for translations between two languages alien to each other in structure and idiomatic use. Better to accept dictionary made words or idiomatic to the target language to convey almost near to the source language. Otherwise, forced translation won't convey anything similar or dissimilar to both the languages.

सिंहेणानुद्रुतो मृगो  भीतः पलायते, शत्रुभिराक्रान्ताः रणात् पलायन्ते - इति न केवलं धावति इत्यर्थः, दूरमपसरन्ति इत्येव। 

शौर्यं तेजो धृतिर्दाक्ष्यं युद्धे चाप्यपलायनम् |

दानमीश्वरभावश्च क्षात्रं कर्म स्वभावजम् ||१८-४३||

इत्यादिषु अनुद्रुतस्यैव धावनं पलायनशब्दार्थः, न केवलं धावनस्य वा अनुधावनस्य वा।
