Can someone give the derivation and meaning
of the word  दोर्भि: in this sloka.

( २. ५. ६८९) भुजबाहू प्रवेष्टो दोः स्यात्

भुजपर्यायाः चत्वारः - भुजः, बाहुः, प्रवेष्टः,  दोः, = arm.

If you want, derivation, दमेर्डोस् (उणादि २.६९) - दम्+डोस् > दम्+ओस्> द्[अम्]+ओस्>दोस् > दोष् - तृतीया बहुवचनम्; Instrumental case plural>>
दोर्भिः चतुर्भिः -( with four arms,) युक्ता - accomplished with fouir arms ,

The word ending in "s"

स्फुटमणिसयुतामक्षमालां दधाना
हस्तेनैकेन
carrying rosary of clear pearl beads in one hand

पद्मं शुकमपि च करे पुस्तकं चापरेण /
lotus and a parrot in the other hand and in the other a book.

भासा कुन्देन्दु-शंख-स्फटिकमणिनिभा भासमाना समाना
shining with the radiation similar to the kunda flower (konna poo), the moon,  clear pearl beads, proportionately featured,

देवी वाग्देवतेयं निवसतु वदने सर्वदा सुप्रसन्ना //

this goddess of learning, may dwell pleased always in (my) mouth.

I hope I have closely followed the wordings of the text for easy comprehension.

Sorry, I forgot to add the referenced text. It is Amarakosha. as numbered in Sanskrit Documents List. The reference gives the 4 synonyms for भुज.

Thanks for the lengthy message.

The point I was trying to decipher was this.

In olden days as a punishment,  boys were asked to do toppikkaranam several
times.  It is learnt that word is  derived from  दोर्भि: कर्णं meaning holding the
ears by the two arms.  This is performed even while worshiping Ganapati in
the temples.

Here only two arms are used.  But dorbhih is more than two.  Karnam is
singular but two ears are involved in the process.

Dr.Bhat could probably resolve the problem.

Anyhow, I have not heard anything in Sanskrit to this effect though I have also been given the punishment in my younger days in the school and had the exercise also before Ganapati.

If any exact verse of Sanskrit is cited, I can solve the problem, but not of this type.

बिभ्रद्दोर्भिः कुठारं मृगमभयवरौ सुप्रसन्नो महेशः।
सर्वालंकारदीप्तः सरसिजनिलयो व्याघ्रचर्मात्तवासाः।
ध्येयो मुक्तापरागामृतरसकलिताद्रिप्रभः  पंचवक्त्र-
स्त्र्यर्क्षः कोटीरकोटीघटिततुहिनरोचिष्कलोत्तुङ्गमौलिः॥

Just like the question is simple, the answer is also simple. Many do the exercise, holding their ears with their hands. (Only one has two ears and two arms. But no one can have a single ear and many arms as you have cited. But many have many ears and generic term ear कर्ण). If it is a valid citation, it can be solved like as I have explained here above.

चतुर्भिः दोर्भिः युक्ता - she who is endowed with four forearms

दोर्भिः is the तृतीया बहुवचन form of "dos" (दोस्) which means forearm or arm.

Apte gives the derivation as दम्यते अनेन इति दोस् (दम् + डोसि).
