सादरं नमस्कारः!!
 
अत्र कतिपय वाक्यानि आंग्लभाषायां प्रदत्तानि, तेषां संस्कृतानुवादम् करणीयम् अस्ति। ईदृशानि वाक्यानि यदा संस्कृतभाषायाम् गच्छन्ति तदा किम् परिवर्तनं भवति तेषां संरचनायाम् इति अध्येतुं मया एतद् व्यवस्यते। कृपया सदयं मम अभीष्टम् सम्पादयन्तु, भवताम् बहु आभारी भविष्यामि।
 
वाक्यानि एवं सन्ति---
 
Part A

1.      Raju and Lisa pinched each other.
2.       Lisa and Raju hate each other.
3.       The students met.
4.       Lisa and Raju argued.
5.       Raju and Lisa are sitting next to each other.
6.       They gave each other a present.
7.       They complained about each other.
8.       Raju introduced the guests to each other.
9.      They cut each other’s hair.
10.   They followed each other (in a line).
11.   The five guests arrived one after the other.
12.   The boxes are stacked on top of each other.
13.   Lisa and Raju kicked each other.
14.   Lisa and Raju met.
15.   They are similar.

1.       Monica told the boys about each other.
2.       Lisa and Raju have a picture of each other.

9.      They cut each other’s hair. ते परस्पराणां केशवपनं अकुर्वन् ।
10.   They followed each other (in a line). तौ परस्परं अन्वगच्छताम् ।
11.   The five guests arrived one after the other. पञ्च अतिथयः एकैकशः आगताः ।
12.   The boxes are stacked on top of each other. पेटिकाः एकैकोपरि रचिताः सन्ति ।
13.   Lisa and Raju kicked each other. लिसा च राजू च परस्परोपरि पादक्षेपं अकुरुताम् ।
14.   Lisa and Raju met. लिसा च राजू च परस्परं मिलितौ ।
15.   They are similar. ते समानाः सन्ति ।

I will be happy to know your opinion regarding
attaching विभक्तिप्रत्ययs to names of foreign origin.

Is it acceptable to directly attach विभक्तिप्रत्ययs to the name
e.g. John spoke to Monika = जॉनः मोनिकामवदत्
or make it more acceptable as in: जॉनकुमारः मोनिकाबालामवदत् ?

My humble opinion on this issue:

 

I think, for Sanskrit to be more suitable and acceptable in the contemporary times, we should attach the sup pratyayas in the foreign words directly, though some times after Sanskritizing them mildly. This would be more natural from linguistic point of view. To attach बाला, कुमार, महोदय, महोदया in foreign names is to show the inability of Sanskrit to capture the modern reality of a multicultural society, though we can very well use them, legitimately, when we wish to encode honorificity (but all the time honorificity we don't need). I don't think any other language does this. These words (some of them) are honorific and they should not be misused. In the example given here, John has been mildly Sanskritized, that is, an अ has been attached at the end of जॉन् and it becomes जॉन, then we can inflect it like any masculine अकारान्त word of Sanskrit, say, राम. In case of Monica no Sanskritization is needed and it will inflect like आकारान्त स्त्रीलिङ्ग word रमा.

 

John spoke to Monika = जॉनः मोनिकाम् अवदत्।

 

This should be considered the perfect Sanskrit sentence and the translation of the given English sentence. This is more economic and vast in use. To say जॉनमहोदय when John is my domestic help is infelicitous. In such cases John should be जॉनः only. जॉनमहोदय could be fine when John is my professor.

I had some sentences for which I cannot think of a Sanskrit equivalent (within scope of my meagre knowledge).

Please tell the translations for these, in particular, what vibhakti is to be used for the bold nouns:
Preferably, avoid verbs which do not appear in the english sentences.

1) Bring him to me.
2) Hey you!
3) I will approach the director through you.
4) there is no gold or wealth with me.
5) he did enquiry about me.  (use विचारणं कृतवान् )
6) he enquired about
7) fruit is obtained in 6 months / by 6th month.
8) namaskaars done to all gods reach govinda. (translate as prose only)
9) he has gone beyond reason. (using परत: and अति for beyond)
