Dear all,

Is  "durmukhi"  the daughter of Lord Hayagreeva ?

Is there any reference to support this?

Even in sankara TV and few other TV channels the astrologers quote this without any references.

durmukha means horse, serpent & has many other meanings. But does it mean she is the daughter of Hayagreeva...??

PE search for  दुर्मुख & हयग्रीव  did not speak about any daughter of hayagreeva.

thanks

Here are few links that don't refer to  the daughter of Lord Hayagreeva ?
Mythologically Durmukhi is the sister of Vakrasura. When vakrasura was killed, the sister wanted to take revenge and gave lot of troubles. parvathi Devi decided to kill Durmukhi though the latter was pregnant. Devi removed the baby from the womb and wore the baby in her ears and killed Durmukhi. On knowing this we tend to feel that Parvathi was more demonic than Durmukhi herself.

It might say Sanskrit on the tin, but it's not Sanskrit as we know it.
The script writers appear to have had recourse to Chinese Buddhism for their inspiration.

All 32 of the their fat ladies, including Durmukhī, belong to the Chinese Somamaṇḍala:

Taff,

PS. Can you send me the recipe for that Somamaṇḍala Soma juice that you are drinking, please (-:).

What did astrologers quote?

Do you want whether दुर्मुख is the name of संवत्सर or दुमुखी is the daughter of Lord Hayagriva?

For the second question, all the search did not yield any positive result.

Durmukha is 13th year of 60 years:

६० वर्षमध्ये १३ वर्षभेदे तुषधान्यक्षयो
देवि! सर्वशस्यमहार्घता । व्यवहाराश्च नश्यन्ति दुर्मुखे
दुर्मुखाः प्रजाः ज्यो० त० भवि० पु०

Why the names are given cannot be answered and who named them?

You can find in astrology books explanations like the above. Each name can be explained in relationship to each year's events predictions.

from the above explanation it is clear that during sankalpam, we have to state दुर्मुख:नाम संवत्सरे and not दुर्मुखी नाम संवत्सरे.
Are all the 60 names of the years mentioned above masculine?
