I know this is not directly related to Sanskrit but wanted to ask here to see if someone with traditional roots can help me here.
I am looking for text on Sangeeta Bala Padam. I found the text in Tamil, but I am looking for text in Telugu or Devanagari.

I don't know of any such text. But the Sangeetha Balapatham class is taken by Smt. Vedavalli and it is available for listening in Music India online:

in two parts.

After that you can learn the other parts if you want to learn Carnatic Music Lessons by listening to audio Cassets. If u want to learn, I can share the complete set in mp3 form of the series of teaching.

I don't think you can learn by reading the books.

Respected Sir;

I really don't know how to thank you and others in this forum for your generosity in giving so much to all of us!!  Thank you most sincerely for this post.  Could you kindly share the whole series (that you mentioned in your post) in mp3 form or whatever form that is possible!!!  My obeisance to this lady Smt. Vedavalli also.

Thank you again and again.

Warmest regards

Iyengar

Dr. Bhat,
Thanks for your prompt reply, we have these MP3 audios, we are looking for written text.
In spoken its said "Bala Padam" so commonly that until you pointed it out it did not occur to us that the correct way to saying it would be Bala Patham = Lessons for beginners.

Thanks for sharing the above link
regards
Raama

He was looking for the text of of the audio lessons of Smt. Vedavalli, he is having, with the title "Sangitha Bala Padam Music Lessons" which he could not understand the word "padam". So I just explained is as the correct word balapaatham in Sanskrit as lessons for the beginners (Beginers' lessons) the correct word in Sanskrit.

He is not in need of any other Beginner Lessons in Music, but only wanted to know the correct word in Sanskrit. Here is already having the cassets and got the text also which also in Tamil.

Is "padam" a distortion of "पाठम्"  caused by Sanskrit-Tamil-English scripting?

It is only natural to Tamil. In प्राकृत languages, ठ becomes ढ, but Tamil has got in its alphabet, only the first of the वर्ग letters, पाढ is பாடம் but pronounced as  pāḍham which is common to Malayalam pronounciation also, for ठ written, but pronounced as ढ. In Prakrit languages, using Devanagari script, it is always written as पाढ. "ठो ढः" प्राकृतप्रकाशः (२।२४) is the general rule for Prakrit conversion of Sanskrit words.

Sir,

Generally the first syllable of a word in Tamil language is followed only by a soft consonant and not by a hard consonant. Hence in Tamil, "paatha" will become "paadam", I guess.  The name  शठकोपः ,for example, is mostly pronounced as "shadagopan" in Tamil
