Dear all

Every sanskrit learner will suffer with a question how to learn
sanskrit?
There are various inst all over the country, and lot of readers from
early 20th century to till now.
I have made a small survey referring many readers to choose a standard
one. finally the one which stands at the top is Readers by K L V
Sastry
they are printed in the series called Sanskrit Study Made easy Vadhyar
and sons Palghat and the name of the books are Baladarsa,
Prathamadarsa , Dviteeyadarsa, Trteeyadarsa. Along with this
Sabdamanjari and Dhatumanjari should be referred by same author. There
institutions I have seen they are keeping this as text books from more
than 50 years. Umpteen number of scholars today learned sanskrit from
these books. I am not related to Vadhyar and sons. This is mere
exchange of information. you can get Baladarsa, Triteeyadarsa etc
online DIL and archive websites.

Vedanta Book House is considered the place to go in Bangalore for Sanskrit texts, but in
my experience, they don't really take the trouble to locate a book you need if it happens to
be out of stock. I was very happy to discover Vandana Book House in NR Colony some
years ago - it is a little hole in the wall bookshop, but the owner is quite enterprising and
will take track a book down for you if you can give him a few days. He found me a few books
that Vedanta BH had told me were out of print. In the spirit of healthy competition, and to
encourage the few bookstores specializing in this field, I do encourage you all to check out
Vandana Book House. I have no personal affiliation with the place, I am just a satisfied customer.

R.S.Vadhyar & sons' books are available at VIJAYA Stores ( who sell school text books), Mylaapre, South Mada Street, Chennai.  From my experience, the material is good ; but the print is not at all good : very smudged. When there are double and triple aksharas get combined, it is very difficult to decipher.  Hence, the reading becomes v. slow. Still I read these books with the help of a dictionary.

Hi Sir,
How is Amarakosam aligned with these books.

I do not have an idea how Amarakosa Moolam aligned with these books.

And, which order should mentioned books (Baladarsa, Prathamadarsa etc) in your mail be read  with Sabdamanjari and Dhatumanjari.

Namste Rama Krishna,

The names are indicate the order in which the books are read.
Sabdamanjari and Dhatumanjari are supplementary books needed and can be learnt completly or partially. Amarkosha is a dictionary of Synonyms worth leaning to increase your vocabulary.

Ajit

Sir,
Your info is valuable. Vadhyar and sons' books are well known.
It may not be necessary for scholars recommending books or publishers to invariably mention they are not related to the author/publisher. No member of the group is likely to attribute such motives to the eminent scholars of this group helping others with names of books.
