please clear this doubt of mine .घ्नः, this is formed from the root हन् . But what is the Pratyaya that is used here ? घञ् makes it घातः, how does it become घ्नः.

शत्रुघ्नः इत्यादौ मूलविभुजादित्वात् कप्रत्यये गमहनजनखनघसां लोपः क्ङित्यनङि  
इत्यपधालोपे  सिद्धम्!
जायाघ्नो ब्राह्मणः पतिघ्नी वृषली
इत्यादौ लक्षणे जायापत्योष्टक् 
टक्प्रत्यये पूर्ववदुपधालोपे सिद्धम्!
जायाघ्नस्तिलकालकः। पतिघ्नी पाणिरेखा। श्लेष्मघ्नं मधु। इत्यादौ अमनुष्यकर्तृके च इति सिद्धम्!
हस्तिघ्नः मनुष्यः। कं पाटयति प्रविशत इति कपाटघ्नश्चौरः। इत्यादौ शक्तौ हस्तिकपाटयोः इति टक्

Apart from the above words there is not any independent word घ्न. So it is टक् prastyaya or  क pratyaya. In both cases, the form घ्न is formed by upadhalopa (i.e.han losing a in the middle).

नमस्ते भट-महोदय !

यद्यपि घ्न-इति स्वतन्त्रतया न वर्तते, गीतायाम् "एतान्न हन्तुमिच्छामि घ्नतोऽपि मधुसूदन (1'35) इत्यत्र घ्नतः इति शब्दः प्रायः हन्+क्त = घ्नत एवं प्राप्तः | 
अथ किं घ्नतः इति "हन्+क्त = हत"-इत्यस्य पर्यायः ? 
"मया हतांस्त्वं जहि (11'34)" इत्यत्र तु "हन्+क्त = हत => हतान्" इत्येव |
कथं सिध्येते द्वावपि (1) हन्+क्त = घ्नत (2) हन्+क्त = हत ?
भवतः निर्देशमनुसृत्य प्राप्तम् 
Ashtadhyayi sutra 6|4|98 (Kaumudi 2363) - गमहनजनखनघसां लोपः क्ङित्यनङि
सिद्धान्तकौमुद्याम् (2363)-तमे परिच्छेदे => एषामुपधाया लोपः स्यादजादौ क्ङिति न त्वङि ।
  • हन्-इत्यत्र अ-कारः उपधा-स्थाने | 
  • तस्याः उपधायाः लोपेन (ह्+न्) भवति | 
  • ह्-कारस्य घ्-कारः केन सूत्रेण ? 
  • क्त-प्रत्ययः कित् अप्यस्ति | तदपि साधु |
  • तथापि सिद्धान्तकौमुद्याम् "अजादौ" इत्यप्युक्तम् | कथमत्र "अजादौ"-इत्यस्य समाधानम् ?
अधिकेन स्पष्टीकरणेन उपकरोतु कृपया |
