Dear All,

Greetings and Namaste. As per Hindu Traditions all full moon days (Pournami) are very important from the religious point of view - as it is they day when manes (Pitrus) and Devas are worshipped - for example Satyanarayana Puja, Devi Puja, Shiva Puja are performed. In the South, Chitra Pournami is a very important occasion where Lord Shiva is worshipped along with Chitragupta who is the book-keeper of all our deeds and mis-deeds (to be benign when we pass off his mortal coil and go in front of him for the balance sheet of this life)

In that context, I happy to attach a beautiful hymn on Lord Somanatha (Somnath in Gujarat, known as Prabhasa in puranic times) taken from Skanda Puranam, Prabhasa Khanda, Prabhasa/Nyankumati Mahatmya, Kubera Nagarotpatti and Chapter 290. The hymn is easy to understand and essentially extols Lord Somanatha as the Mula Prakriti. I think the prayer is especially beautiful from the Sharanagati perspective - it beseeches Lord Somanatha to redeem the reciter from Samsara and its tribulations.

May We Seek The Blessing of Lord Sadashiva on this Chitra Pournami day!

rameshji thanks to share a rare stuti of lord somnath mahadev,
i think you perhaps never visited this land, the nyamkumati as you stated in your attechment is a river having distance around 40 km from prabhas and the said kuber nagar -  now a days known as kodinar city and the ancient nyamkumati river (one stream of vedic sarasvati  -- पञ्च नद्यः सरस्वती मपियन्ति सस्त्रोतस: शुक्ल यजुर्वेद ) today known as shingavado river. even today there is a small temple in the kodinar village on the bank of river is known as somnath.
agreed that this is stuti for lord somnath but little difference is stated above.
i can write this way because i belongs to somnath - prabhaas. and i am atteched with ritual works as a brahmin.
sincire request to you also if you have prabhas khand of skanda purAn kindly bless me by giving a digitised copy through this forum. i have rest all volumes of skand but missing the one of my homeland.
regards and thanks again,
kamalesh pathak
