Namaste Srikanth,
There was a discussion about this a few weeks ago on this email list. There is a recording which was done by Samskrita Bharati but was removed from the public space due to some flaws in the reciting. I have this recording and am happy to share it with anybody who would like it but it is a huge set of files and cannot be transferred by email or file sharing sites, so requires an ftp site.

It's funny because what Ajit pointed to is the same recording that Vasuvaj and I did on behalf of SB. Venetia refers to the same thing. Later SB wanted it removed from surasa.net until the pronunciation is refined a bit more, which never happened for 2 years now. Talk about perfection vs. Practical utility :-)

Thank you all. Especially thank you Ajit Krishnan mahodaya, the skydrive link is a treasure trove, it had two sets of Ashtadyayi recitations. Thank you very much.

Susarlaji,
If sanskrit bharati thinks there is a pronunciation issue did they
ever tell you where to improve?
I am a beginner and I want to learn Astadhyaayi in serial order and
your audio is a great help to memorize the sutras.
If you think I can be some help in this recording project let me know.
I managed to add 3 repetitions of each stura, its easy to memorize
that way.
Sorry did with without asking the creators permission, but thats only
for personal use and I did not distribute because of copyright
issues.
Thanks for your help
Raama

Actually, the issue was very minor. In the pronunciation, they're supposed not to elongate the pronunciation of hrasva varNas at the end of the sutra like they did sometimes in the audio.

adeNguNahaaaa
 etc. :-)

I think you can go ahead and use the sutra audio with modifications like those you did.
SB is less worried about copyrights than with their reputation getting tarnished because of less than perfect pronunciation.

I don't think it is a such serious mistake as supposed by people, as it is style to pronounce "visarga", with the influence of the vowel preceding it, which seems to be strange for those who are not acquainted with it.

The justification lies in the Paniniya Shiksha itself,

अयोगवाहाः विज्ञेया आश्रयस्थानभगिनः।

which is explained in the same way.

pronounced like गुणह, हरिहि, शंभुहु etc. in an Editorial Note. Right now

If they have pronounced आदेङ् गूणः, or ईको गूणव्द्धी etc. it would be a serious error changing totally the meaning of the word. Or for ears unfamiliar to the Karnataka pronunciation, some sounds may be received differently, if such is the error in such cases. Anyhow I have not heard the recitations as I am not in need of it. I can rely on the commentaries for their meaning with the published books.

With regards
