Are you sure this is from any old text?

I found similar lines used to describe Swami Vivekanand in this blog pos.  The words are:

I'M BIGGEST FAN OF SWAMI VIVEKANAND:

वह थे-एको ब्रह्म द्वितीयो नास्ति न भूतो न भविष्यति

Arvind Kolhatkar.

Namaste,

'Na bhuto na bhavishyati' is also the title of a novel on Swami Vivekananda by Narendra Kohli.

shankara

@ Arvind: I am not sure if these lines are really from any old text or just used as common text in variety of context. But I found certain references to this text in context of  Lord Krishna in some book (I lost the reference) and therefore I am checking if there's any specifiec slok associated with the text.

@Shankara: No, I am refering to Narendra Kohli's novel on Swami Vivekananda.

Thanks,
Saurabh

Saurabh,

न भूतो न भविष्यति is found in several puranas, Mahabharata and other scriptures.

One such instance is in Varaha Purana -

Regarding the first part, there is a slightly different version in Svetasvataropanishad 3.2
एको हि रुद्रो न द्वितीयाय तस्थुः य इमान् लोकानीशत ईशनीभिः ।

regards
shankara
