Today, on the first day of the auspicious Śrāvaṇa month (as per the pūrṇimānta reckoning), I am pleased to pronounce the publication of my fourteenth book, Śivatāṇḍavatālikā: Śivatāṇḍavastotramadhikṛtya Saṃskṛtaṭīkā (Varanasi: Chaukhambha Classica, 2025, viii + 120 pp.). The book presents a detailed Sanskrit commentary on the Śivatāṇḍavastotra. A 36-page sample of the book is attached with this message. शिवताण्डवतालिका: शिवताण्डवस्तोत्रमधिकृत्य संस्कृतटीका

अशेषे विश्वे प्रसिद्धं शिवताण्डवस्तोत्रं संस्कृतस्तोत्रसाहित्येऽद्वितीयां पदवीं दधाति। पञ्चचामरच्छन्दोबद्धे भक्तिभावसमृद्ध एतस्मिन् स्तोत्रे ताण्डवकर्तुः शिवस्य स्तुतिर्वरीवर्त्ति। सतीस्वपि स्तोत्रस्यास्य पञ्चषासु लघ्वीषु टीकास्विदमधिकृत्य देववाण्यां प्रौढा टीका सुदुर्लभा। संस्कृतटीकापरम्परां निर्वहन्ती व्याकरणप्रमाणतर्कमण्डितेयं शिवताण्डवतालिका टीका शिवताण्डवस्तोत्रं प्रतिपदं स्फुटतया व्याचष्टे। टीकाकारः काव्यरसिकेभ्यः प्रत्येकं पद्यस्यानुष्टुप्छन्दसि पद्यानुवादमपि प्रस्तौति। अस्याष्टीकाया अध्ययनेन नव्या अध्येतारोऽपि स्तोत्रस्य सारतत्त्वं सौगम्येन बोधितुं शक्नुवन्ति स्तोत्रं चात्मसात्कर्तुं शक्नुवन्ति। संस्कृतज्ञशिवभक्तानां कृते शिवताण्डवतालिका महान् निधिरिव। पुस्तकमिदं देववाण्याः प्रसिद्धानां कवीनां नाटककाराणां च सम्पूर्णानन्दसंस्कृतविश्वविद्यालयस्य च भूतपूर्वकुलपतीनामाचार्याभिराजराजेन्द्रमिश्राणां नान्दीवाचा विभूषितम्।

शिवताण्डवतालिका: शिवताण्डवस्तोत्र पर संस्कृत टीका

सम्पूर्ण विश्व में प्रसिद्ध शिवताण्डवस्तोत्र का संस्कृत स्तोत्र-साहित्य में अद्वितीय स्थान है। पञ्चचामर छन्द में निबद्ध एवं भक्तिभाव से समृद्ध इस स्तोत्र में ताण्डवकर्ता शिव की स्तुति है। इस स्तोत्र की पाँच-छह छोटी टीकाएँ होते हुए भी इसपर संस्कृत में प्रौढ टीका अत्यन्त दुर्लभ है। संस्कृत टीकाओं की परम्परा का निर्वाह करती हुई और व्याकरण, प्रमाण तथा तर्क से मण्डित यह ‘शिवताण्डवतालिका’ टीका शिवताण्डवस्तोत्र के पद-पद का स्पष्टता से व्याख्यान करती है। टीकाकार काव्य के रसिकों के लिए प्रत्येक पदा का अनुष्टुप् छन्द में पद्यानुवाद भी प्रस्तुत करते हैं। इस टीका के अध्ययन से नए अध्येता भी स्तोत्र के सारतत्त्व को सरलता से समझ सकते हैं और स्तोत्र को आत्मसात् कर सकते हैं। संस्कृतज्ञ शिवभक्तों के लिए शिवताण्डवतालिका एक महान् निधि जैसी है। यह पुस्तक संस्कृत के प्रसिद्ध कवि और नाटककार एवं सम्पूर्णानन्द संस्कृत विश्वविद्यालय के भूतपूर्व कुलपति आचार्य अभिराज राजेन्द्र मिश्र के नान्दीवाक् से विभूषित है।

Śivatāṇḍavatālikā: A Sanskrit commentary on the Śivatāṇḍavastotra

The Śivatāṇḍavastotra, famous all over the world, has a special place in the ‘stotra’ literature of Sanskrit. This ‘stotra’, set to the Pañcacāmara metre and reverberating with the feeling of bhakti, praises Śiva, who performs the divine dance known as Tāṇḍava. Although several small commentaries on this ‘stotra’ are available, advanced commentaries on this ‘stotra’ in Sanskrit are very rare. Following the tradition of Sanskrit commentaries, this commentary, Śivatāṇḍavatālikā, is embellished with grammatical analysis, citations and logic and lucidly explains every word of the Śivatāṇḍavastotra. The commentator has also provided a poetic translation of every verse in the Anuṣṭup metre. By reading this commentary, even new students of Sanskrit can understand the essence of the ‘stotra’ easily and can feel one with the ‘stotra’. For bhaktas of Śiva who know Sanskrit, the Śivatāṇḍavatālikā is like a great treasure. The book has a foreword by Ācārya Abhirāja Rājendra Miśra, noted Sanskrit poet and playwright and former vice chancellor of the Sampurnanand Sanskrit University.
