Friday September 21 8pm - 37th Annual San Francisco International Comedy Competition comes to Oakland
The Washington Inn, 495 10th St, Oakland
Each year, hundreds of comedians audition to compete in this premier comedy competition, but only 30 are selected to perform. Now in its 37th year, the San Francisco International Stand-Up Comedy Competition has included competitors who have gone on to become major entertainment stars including the 1977 winner Dana Carvey, 1979 champ Marsha Warfield (Roz from Night Court) and finalists Kevin Pollak, Ellen DeGeneres, Mark Curry, Rob Schneider and Louis C.K. This round features 14-15 comics performing five to seven minute sets as they battle for a slot in the semi-finals. The rest go home.
Looks like this event will sell out, we are selling tickets at an exciting pace!
**I am not competing in this event. I am one of 4 judges.

October 3 (Wed), 11 (Thu), 16 (Tue), 22 (Mon), 6pm-8.30pm - Presidential Debates + Comedy Show
The Washington Inn, 495 10th St, Oakland
This October, the Bay Area’s quickest comedians come together on the 4 most important comedic events in the past 4 years - the 2012 Presidential and Vice-Presidential debates. Sit alongside the comics, watch the debates, then watch the comics stand up and dish out political jokes -- Democrats, Republicans, even the moderators, are fair game.
Hosted by Dhaya Lakshminarayanan & Samson Koletkar, the comedy show series will feature an all-star roster of comedians specializing in political and social commentary: Will Durst, the #1 political satirist in America today; Maureen Langan, a New York based award winning comic, broadcaster, and writer; Aundre the Wonderwoman, recipient of the Stand Up For Justice Award from Death Penalty Focus; and Dan St Paul, an active member of MoveOn.org and producer of the ObamaHaHa comedy show. Accompanying these headliners is a cast of comics including a lesbian latina, a black lesbian single mother, a single father of 3 daughters, a transsexual, a Mormon, a non US Citizen and, just to balance things out, a fistful of straight white men.
The post-debate expert analysis on main stream media by political pundits is a joke already, so why not have actual joke-tellers do the analysis.
