I have seen a lot of custom furnace-type machines in Industrial Craft 2 (Experimental), and I would really like to know how they work. If anyone knows, please respond. Thanks!

Hi,

A custom furnace is basically a very advanced TileEntity working together with an also quite complicated Block. It also has various other components including a Container and a couple of other GUI related classes. All in all, it's very difficult to make one of these things, because it requires a lot of custom code to work together. Sadly, I've never actually tried doing this myself so I'm afraid I can't help you with this. What I would do if I were you is look at the Minecraft code for the Furnace. You should be able to find most of the TileEntity related classes by simply reading the code. You could also look at some open source mods which do things similar to this. For example, Iron Chests is open source. Iron Chests does not have a custom furnace, but if you know how to make a custom chest, a furnace shouldn't be too hard.

A good list of open source mods including links can be found here: http://modlist.mcf.li/. Go to the List of the Minecraft version you want and click Mode > Advanced Search and fill in Open source in the Tags typefield. You can access the source code of the mods by clicking the blue icon on the right of a mod.
